Thank you 🙏🏿. It features the incandescent vocals of Rachid, whose 1998 album Prototype was ahead of its time.

I concur. Weapons is an Indy Graphic Novel of a Horror film. It’s a small horror tale about what happened in a small town. It’s recalled almost as an Urban Legend. Our collective unrest isn’t just Macro. It is door to door - filmed on Ring cameras, tracked on AirTags.

I completely respect this point of view. I’m frankly surprised that I’m such a fan of the genre myself. Here we are though.

@vurnt22 I’m sure it’s a fantastic film. To be perfectly honest, I’ve avoided horror films since 9/11. Scout’s honor. I just can’t find them entertaining. God bless those who still can.

I’m not usually a fan of gore - but there’s a point being made here that’s not maudlin at all IMO. This film is called Weapons. It doesn’t flinch away from the full implications of that word, and it doesn’t soft pedal the nature of what actual weapons actually do. To people.

@vurnt22 I like a good psychological thriller, but when extreme gore is thrown in, it’s heavy handed and almost maudlin to me.

The whole thing worked for me, Despite any quibbles I could think of, Weapons is complete in its internal, supernormal logic. The place of coincidence, the unplanned for, & the unintended, which usually feel implausibly Deux Ex Machina in most movies, worked authentically here.

@vurnt22 I thought it was really good overall. The third act was not as strong overall as the first and second but it is definitely worth watching.

Part of the genius of Weapons is its choice of no exposition. Nobody explains a thing. There’s no Van Helsing monologuing. We’re in the same situation as it’s characters. The only advantage we have? Is varying perspectives. And an Incredible cast.

Weapons is one of those extremely rare films where events, on screen actually “Dawn On You”. Nothing is capricious, including the stylized r”unning”. Once I got it? I could only SMH in admiration of Weapons audacity. See it. If you can handle extreme gore. It is a LANDMARK.
