When you were doing an undergrad, you wanted to do a masters. When you did a masters, you wanted to do a PhD. Now you’re doing a PhD, you want to be a cat.

Trauma doesn't make people stronger. It damages their nervous system. It hijacks their digestive track. It keeps the person in a constant loop of hypervigilance. To tell someone they are stronger because of trauma is to deny what it cost them to survive it.

Please, God, guard my heart from hatred masquerading as righteous anger. Help me to know how to react like You do to injustice -- with anger that does not become contempt, bitterness, or enmity. Because my human anger does not produce the justice that You desire.

Sometimes we have to ride the emotional waves as they come. Allowing yourself to move through it like water flowing, as it ebbs and as it flows, allowing it to move as it has to, and being tender and gentle with yourself throughout the process. ♥️
