SPECIAL BONUS EPISODE!
After a long hiatus, our podcast is returning for the 22/23 season. This bonus episode explains the reason for the hiatus and features a Q&A on Liverpool's summer so far at the end (see time stamps).
Manchester-born referee Anthony Taylor didnt think this was a red card offence by Maguire.
Neither did Manchester-born Chris Kavanagh who was in charge of VAR.
It is Klopp's moment.
He used it to tell us to be 100% behind Arne Slot the same we were with him. Jokingly points out how inappropriate to sing his name next year. Then gives us a song instead to sing for the next man.
Great manager. An even better person! We'll miss him.
Without Liverpool, City would have won 5 titles in a row by:-
21/22 19 points
20/21 12 points
19/20 15 points
18/19 26 points
17/18 19 points
Make no mistake, Liverpool are all that is stopping the Premier League being the worst 'big' league. This is what the future looks like
I love the Liverpool fans letting Neco know throughout the game that they have his back.
Distancing themselves from the very vocal minority of moronic 12 year olds online who gave him shit.
Peak dodgy refereeing from Taylor here.
Blows a whistle and calls on the physio that nobody asked for to justify stopping play so Liverpool don't score from the keeper being a bonehead.
There is a reason Liverpool's results under Klopp are bad with this Manc in charge.
Van Dijk out here doing this and people still aren't convinced that he intentionally bounced the ball off Everton's crossbar, straight to Origi, in the ultimate humiliation for them.
Michael Owen won the Ballon d'Or aged 21 after his fourth 20+ goal season in all comps already in his career.
Robbie Fowler, aged 19, scored 25 Premier League goals (31 in all comps). Then 29 EPL goals (36 in all comps) aged 20 & 18 EPL goals (31 in all comps) at 21.
TLDR: No
BIZARRE MBAPPE GOAL 🇫🇷🎁 Lorient goalkeeper incorrectly thinks play whistled dead after non-foul ruling, gifts goal to French forward. Visitors' largesse not enough, as PSG still fell 3-1.
Only 3 teams in the Premier League have a winning streak longer than 1 match at the moment.
Liverpool: 9
Wolves: 2
Southampton: 2
Only 2 teams have a winning streak longer than 1 match at home.
Liverpool: 9
Newcastle: 2
Only 1 team has scored in every EPL match.
Liverpool
Literally EVERY manager in the Premier League can watch Chelsea play, tell you their shape, their structure off the ball, that they are compact - and that when they win the ball back their wing backs give them width and Werner has pace in behind in the transition to attack.
And this is my big problem with PGMOL.
I can accept that call at the weekend if that is how we treat this now. If a player stands offside and runners collide with him he is interfering with play?
No... just that one time.
Consistency please. For the love of God!
I love it that the other 14 EPL clubs voted down 5 subs, take the piss out of Klopp & Pep when talking about fixture congestion and having to play games ~36 hours apart or in Klopp case - 2 games on essentially the same fucking day on two different continents. Because fucking
Don't remember Liverpool reacting like this when Manchester's own Anthony Taylor, from just 7 miles from their stadium, had a mare last season, kept Kompany on the pitch when the player himself suggested he got away with one. Almost like the whole victims narrative is bollocks.
Manchester City have made a formal complaint to referees chief Mike Riley over the officiating performance of Michael Oliver during their defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Prospective employers will often check your social media and they will then know you made up the entire education section of your CV.
Gini had a stormer today. Had a 97% passing accuracy today (only other player with 80+ was Fabinho on 83%).
Lost possession only 4 times the whole match. Only players lower were Ox, Jesus and Gomez who played just 33 minutes between them.
A beacon of calm in a chaotic match.
Liverpool have dropped points in 9 of their last 47 matches (19%)
Atkinson has reffed us 9 times in that period, in which we dropped point 4 times (44.4%).
Ali's header
Liverpool taking 26 points from 30 to snatch 3rd
Chelsea losing the FA Cup final
Another Brendan top 4 Bottle job
United losing the UEFA Cup final on pens
What a few weeks it has been. Now we just need City v Chelsea to end in a mass brawl and the UCL declared void.
So Liverpool without VAR would be on 34 points. But because the FA wants them to win the league LiVARpool actually have 34 points instead.
VAR just straight up handing them 0 points like they deserve them. Disgusting.
Bruno Fernandes is a horrible dirty player!
Injures Richarlison tonight and gets away with it and put challenge in on Allan earlier in the season and gets away with it!
This is a scissors tackle from behind. These have been outlawed in football because your leg is trapped between the player and the ground and will take all the weight and momentum energy of the player. This is precisely why you cannot make these tackles.
Except in England.
Thiago created 0 big chances from open play for Bayern last season.
If you think Liverpool's data analysis and scouting teams sat down and picked him out as a player that would 'solve creativity' then you have zero understanding of football.
The Media: "Liverpool fans underrate Mo Salah"
LFC Fans: Appointed Mo Salah their player of the year last season and have been calling him 'the Egyptian King' for 4 years.
The rest of football: This shit here 👇
Five games. But who is counting. Except for the people who make the EPL table I mean.
If he is upset about this, imagine going 20 games unbeaten, winning your last 9, losing just 1 game all season and the difference in points is this Mane "offside" goal when he is behind play.
GNev - "Why isn't van Dijk just getting tight to Pepe and mauling him as soon as he gets the ball"
DLuiz - Gets too tight to Salah, dives in, gets rolled, his team conceded.
That is defending basics and one of the weirdest VVD I've heard and from someone who knows better.
Mohamed Salah is currently the LFC fans player of the year. They literally have songs about him calling him the King - an honour also bestowed on Dalglish.
But the media who LFC fans have battled against for shitting on Salah now say he is underappreciated by Liverpool fans.
I see some Firmino slander from people who only seem to see the game in terms of end product.
Against Salzburg, our entire gameplan was built on the idea that they would outnumber us in midfield unless Firmino dropped right in as a 6 or 8 at times. He wasn't a striker. Go watch
If you ignore Joe Gomez, Naby Keita, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, James Milner, Xherdan Shaqiri and Kostas Tsimikas - then Mourinho is pretty spot on. Only van Dijk is injured.
Mourinho has started..
🗣 "Alisson is not injured, Alexander-Arnold is not injured, Fabinho is not injured, Robertson is not injured, Salah is not injured, Firmino is not injured, Mane is not injured."
Classic Jose 😅

"Pep, your team just came from behind to win late on. You must be proud of your team?"
"Liverpool. Klopp. Mane diver. Adrian was off the line for that penalty. Van Dijk was dribbled past by Sane."
Maguire has made 5 errors leading to shots, 1 leading to a goal and conceded 3 penalties in the last 3 seasons in the Premier League.
I cannot provide data for the Champions League as he hasn't played in that competition yet and won't again this season.
When people talk about anybody other than Messi being the best in the world, refer them to this.
- Top 5 European Leagues
- Played at least 800 mins
- Colour = Competition
- Size = Time played
- Shape = Position
The FA's decision to not televise the replay will cost Shrewsbury an estimated £72,000. To achieve what exactly? Seems a bit petty and vindictive from them tbh.
Just to be clear...
This isn't a question, it is a fucking ambush.
You didn't ask him anything - you told him what he meant by what he said, not asked. This isn't journalism, it is making up the news.
Liverpool players, after beating Barcelona, sang You'll Never Walk Alone with the fans on the pitch.
Man City players sang songs about a Liverpool fan being battered in the streets and put into a coma.
Well that mutual respect between the two clubs is disappearing fast
Singing a song that includes the mocking of Sean Cox is quite disgusting from the City players and staff

Are Liverpool a long-ball team? 🤔
The most Brazilian thing I have ever seen is Fabinho deciding out of the blue yesterday that he wanted a go at hitting freekicks - and then almost putting it in the top corner.
Klopp has never in his managerial career, left a club to join another. He resigned at Mainz when he failed to get them promoted - then turned down Bayern to join Dortmund.
He then announced his exit from Dortmund at the end of the season when battling relegation - stayed and
“Klopp is a football manager & cares about himself first.” 👀
“He left Dortmund to go to Liverpool as it was a better opportunity.” 🔁
“As soon as a better job comes up he will be off.” ❌

Also on the subject of PSG, they invested all their eggs in the UEFA basket. Just spend a few minutes reading about all the links between PSG - Qatar - UEFA. A Qatar business hiring Platini's son just before the WC voting. The leaked emails showing Infantino trying to help PSG
This is a statistical zero. He has neither won nor lost a duel because he has made no attempt to win the ball.
Because the first crucial defensive principle of play - delay - has no statistical value. Therefore, people who try to quantify all player's actions with ball-oriented

I cannot escape the fact that Klopp and Pep (and I am sure MANY others) said this year that we are asking too much of the players. That they are exhausted. That they need a break.
Hopefully this is the wakeup call needed to have a serious discussion on fewer games, most rest.
Will say this every time.
Awful officials are ruining football.
They were awful before VAR - that is why we were clamouring to get it in. They are awful with VAR.
We are giving accident-prone drivers Formula 1 cars and blaming the car for the increase in accidents.
Ever notice how the media treats moments like this. Klopp's words were very prescient. We saw the same with Corbyn too.
Will the people who vilified Klopp for speaking against the media for winding people up come out and admit they were wrong?
Will they fuck. They will wash
"You all have to calm down. It's winding people up."
"Nobody wanted it. Definitely. But now let's deal with it."
A passionate Jurgen Klopp on dealing with, and moving forward from the European Super League fallout.

@TheDesKelly
Bergkamp had 87 Premier League goals in 315 appearances.
This isn't to shit on Bergkamp. He is legitimately one of the best players I have seen in the Premier League era. However, he wasn't a striker - he was the playmaker. He created spaces for others to exploit.
"If Palace defend better and don’t let Liverpool score their second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh goal, and Jordan Ayew scores his big chance at the other end, then it’s 1-1.
I know that's not football, and I know I can't reflect on that, but those are the realities."
Mohamed Salah ranked 333rd of all Premier League players in terms of fouls per 90 given his way last season. Liverpool's best most effective dribbler in small spaces and he was only fouled 18 times all season?
This isn't even an anti-Liverpool thing. He was 16th in his own team.
I don't understand why United sacked Ole. Just weeks ago before the match against Liverpool I had pundits showing in terms of PPG his start at the club compared to Klopp's.
He was on course for 97+ point seasons and UCL success and they binned him? Shit makes no sense.
The worst thing about having 73/75 points now?
The only way is down. When it happens we have 'regressed'. When we regress, people will trot out narratives as to why - e.g. didn't buy x, klopp's tactics, players lost motivation when we binned off domestic cups, etc.
Current unbeaten runs in the Premier League

Sheffield United 4
Everton 4
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2
Arsenal 2

Bournemouth 1

Klopp took over Mainz in the relegation zone of the German second tier, won 6/7 games to avoid relegation, got them promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history after 3 years, then got them into the UEFA Cup 2 years later.
Takes a brave man to say that isn't a hand ball.
Or Martin Atkinson in the VAR booth.
Hands away from the body and definitely not in a natural position.

Coutinho remains my favourite Liverpool player to have watched in the Klopp era. Absolutely love the guy. Which is why I am always divided between missing watching the below - but also in believing that he was an individualist holding back a machine which became unstoppable with
Manager who has won away at Bayern, Ajax, Man City, Atalanta, Leipzig, Porto - steering us to three european finals and won us the Champions League doesn't know what to do away in Europe.
Yep.
@SimonBrundish
We keep making excuses, but the reality is klopp doesn’t know what to do away in Europe. He’s not confident of pressing sides technically better than us so he gets caught doing no deep block and no high press. Napoli twice PSG red star Barca Villarreal. He particular hates spain
If you look like Mo Salah, are from where is from, and pray to his God, you aren't allowed to show pain and go to ground if someone boots you in the Achilles.
If you are Kane, Sterling, Rashford, Bruno etc - it's fine to go down any time your touched. It's 'clever forward play'
@SamMcGuire90
Got me thinking.
Liverpool last spent £50m+ on a player at the start of July 2018 for Alisson Becker.
Since then, Riyad Mahrez, João Cancelo, Rodri, Rúben Dias, Jack Grealish, and Erling Haaland have all been signed in the 50m+ bracket.
Another positive is that he already has an understanding on the pitch with Keita.
They have played 2507 minutes together for Salzburg - during which Minamino had 11 goals and 6 assists. While Naby had 13 goals and 9 assists.
RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann was asked about the impact of coronavirus: "You’re not asking virologists how we’re going to play against Wolfsburg."
Can any virologists answer a few questions for me about this weekend's Bundesliga, please? 🤔
Fabinho's record in the Premier League in games he has started:-
Played 28
Won 24
Drawn 4
Lost 0
That is 2.68 points per game. Equivalent to 102 points season.

A handful of owners try to tear our game apart and may well try to do so again, and we’re just told to ‘calm down and move on’. Huge admirer of Klopp but he’s spectacularly tone deaf here. Without the fans of our beautiful game it would be much uglier today.
Note below a list of all Premier League players to have played at full back this season and who average fewer dribbles past per 90 than Aaron Wan Bissaka.
Séamus Coleman
Matt Doherty
Martin Kelly
Emerson
Kevin Danso
Angeliño
Phil Bardsley
Steven Alzate
Ben Davies
Ben Chilwell
The human mind tries to protect us from traumatic events. Arsenal fans have straight up forgot this moment.
And the rest of his 8 goals and 3 assists in 9 games against Arsenal.
The whole LiVARpool narrative really was the biggest pile of bollocks, wasn't it? The data I shared this summer showed Liverpool were ranked 16th in the EPL in terms of teams who benefited from decisions from VAR.
Understand there are different interviews on different stations tonight with Hendo, Klopp, Virg and others connected to the club.
If you see any videos, tag me in them. Want to soak everything up. Cheers
Here it is - the new Premier League table WITHOUT VAR.
- Liverpool's lead over Man City slashed in HALF from 14 pts to 7
- Only Norwich worse affected by VAR than City
- Arsenal, West Ham get biggest climb
- Southampton suffer most in points, places
And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons...😂 pathetic... go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book...🤦🏻♂️ so many options!😅
Liverpool are top of the league, have a 100% record in the Champions League and have scored at least 3 goals every match this season bar Chelsea.
But I didn't enjoy any of that as our squad depth is too thin.
I also have never watched a TV series as it might get cancelled.
Just the 4 players behind Matip here for Trent to deal with on the second goal.
And people are criticising him? What were you watching?
Wins the first ball somehow 1v3, ends up on the deck with 2 Brentford players on him and the 3rd hops on the rebound. But he doesn't give up,
