I remember them vaguely,they finished being sold in the UK during the late 1960’s,prior to that think they’d been on sale for nearly a hundred years.

As a 16yr old butcher my jobs included making,faggots,brawn and cleaning and boiling chitterlings in a gas fired burco boiler. Back the then most folks who bought them were the poorer customers,posher folk wouldn’t touch them. Hip Bone,Fillet Steak Leg of Pork more there thing.
@b8eak Not a fan of brawn Bill, my old school chums mum used to make the best chitterling sandwiches & I'm a huge believer in using as much of a beast as possible. I've had pigs head, cooked by a Michelin 2 star chef. Recently did a pig tongue myself too. Cheap cuts have deeper flavour.

I enjoy the nostalgic vignettes every morning transporting me back in time to a typical 1950’s newsagents despite the slush machine. Then modernity arrives with a bang Fred using an air fryer to cook a wrap,if there’s a chip pan it’s stuck in the back of a kitchen cupboard.
In the shop I tell Fred I’m making a pancake for my breakfast. He says he had a pancake for his tea and he’s having a bacon and cheese wrap for his breakfast; he’s got the air fryer ready. The shopkeeper holds up an empty water bottle.
