John Peel left us 21 years ago today. Here's a little thing I wrote about his short-lived record label Dandelion. #JohnPeel

I don’t know which is worse, the free offer or the spelling. This is a charity shop in Australia

Almost the only option for a retired footballer used to be a pub, or a sports shop. Here's England captain Bobby Moore signing autographs outside his sports shop on Green Street, Upton Park, opposite West Ham's Boleyn Ground with his posh Jaguar 420. Bobby retired in 1974

£1300 for a 1965 second-hand Aston Martin DB5. £795 for the 1968 Alfa and I can't make out the price on the 1967 Daimler 250. Seems to be the mid-70s.

44 years ago I bought these repro 20s/30s Guinness posters. signed by the original artist John Gilroy (1898-1985). I once went to his house in Fulham in the early 80s and these were hanging in the entrance hall. #Guinness

A random photo of Earls Court Square, 1967. The building on the left with the striped pillars is Wetherby Mansions where #SydBarrett lived at the time. You can see the "Autotours" sign down the street in the cropped b&w photo of Syd #PinkFloyd

Record and Tape Exchange ad from 1975 - 50 years ago. How I recall standing gloomily while the snooty git behind the counter went through my trade-in LPs, treating each one like radioactive dog shit before making a derisory offer. @Glinner

I found this Feb 1928 copy of the @DailyMirror underneath some lino while renovating. The football competition shows teams like Clapton Orient which became Leyton Orient after WWII. Best of all is the weird "news" story of the "Electric Boy."

I hear that the G-A-Y nightclub at 30 Old Compton Street has closed. In the 50s/60s the building was occupied by the music publisher W.Paxton. Elton John would sometime drop in. I worked there from 1967-73. This is what the building looked like in 1959 compared with today. #Soho

Renault Dauphine mini-cabs, which carried advertising, first appeared on London streets in June 1961. They were not allowed to ply for hire in the streets and had to be booked from their headquarters in Baker Street

50 years ago this week in October 1975, Lemmy out of Motörhead almost killed my dog. Here's the story. https://t.co/wsfxUvEuBa

52 years ago today Bowie's Pin Ups was released. Once again, let's celebrate Carol Belton of Glasgow and her wonderfully personalised copy of that great LP #DavidBowie

On October 19th, 1976 I took a young lady to see Wings at the Empire Pool, Wembley. It was our very first date and 49 years later we're still together. #PaulMcCartney

After ELEVEN unauthorised compilation LPs by his label Verve-MGM, #FrankZappa put together "Mothermania" released in March 1969. Here are 5 different versions from the UK and US. Issued on CD in 2008 as "official release #7" it slots between "Uncle Meat" and "Hot Rats".

Shitloads of records, a roomful of American guitars and a beautiful girlfriend. Al Kooper had it all. Oh, and plenty of musical ability.
