Saturday morning pictures. This was my local cinema in the 50s, and my parents' before me. The Oxford in Upperthorpe, Sheffield, pictured here in 1962. Long demolished of course. @Pott_Shrigley_

There is another @itvcorrie link here. Let’s remember the time Roy Cropper mansplained the finer points of classical music to Hayley via a copy of Deep Purple's Concerto For Group & Orchestra LP
Remember the time Alf Roberts out of @itvcorrie conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra? I jest, it’s actually Malcolm Arnold on the cover of Deep Purple’s Concerto for Group and Orchestra LP in 1970.

So very sad to hear we've lost Mick Abrahams aged 82. Original guitarist with Jethro Tull, founder of Blodwyn Pig and a great man.

Great to see one of these still on the road. The shock is how tiny they seem. In 1975 I drove an original Mini Cooper 200 miles from London to Liverpool on the M1 and M6. It was terrifying not even being as high as the wheels of the big trucks. @Rockstarscars @Superstar_Cars

Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky. Mick & Tich with their cars. Bentley, Humber Hawk, Aston DB5, E-Type and, er, a Vespa scooter (or is it a Lambretta). But what's the strange car on the right. A rare Noble 200 three wheeler perhaps? Made in N.Ireland 1958-62 @Rockstarscars

I see Harry Roberts has died. He murdered three policemen in 1966. As late as 2014 I photographed this graffiti in Denmark Street
The passing of Harry Roberts at 89 brings back the febrile aftermath of his slaying of 3 police officers. He was on the run for some time & people were “spotting” him in every nook and cranny. My Nan in Battersea got it in her head he was being harboured by the “old girl” ( my

So much to enjoy in this 1970 photo of the Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Strip. We see a huge billboard for the first Paul McCartney album and another for the debut Faces LP (still known as Small Faces in US). Linda Ronstadt is appearing at the club and a white Triumph TR6 drives by.

Well, there's the first #Beatles LP "Please Please Me" on the top right, second rack in. And "At The drop of Another Hat" by Flanders & Swann top row right, 4th rack along, so it must be 1964. Otherwise it's slim pickings

I saw Cilla sing this in a 1963 package tour. She introduced it with "here's a song written by two pals of mine from Liverpool, John and Paul" and the audience screamed at the very mention of their names. #Beatles
Another lost Beatles demo surfaces - Love of the Loved, the original demo given to Cilla Black for her debut single. Cannot believe we’re hearing this finally Always love some new beatles era solo Paul recordings. Very reminiscent of the home demos from 1960. 🧡🧡🧡

Davina McCall. Never mind about her tabloid driven love life, much more interesting is that her aunt Sheena McCall designed several album sleeves for #Donovan, including this gem from 1967

As if to demonstrate how fast things moved in the 60s, in October 1968 John & Yoko turned up on the cover of Private Eye in a spoof of their Two Virgins LP a month BEFORE the LP was released.

Paul’s reaction to the slagging off Magical Mystery Tour received in 1967. They didn’t really boob, did they? It was great.

See, it was great song all along. One the best Lennon-McCartney covers you'll ever hear. The Mavericks "World Without Love" RIP Raul Malo: 1965-2025. https://t.co/9jzcDZeqcq via @YouTube

The 1975 Filmfinders clip for Led Zeppelin’s “Trampled Underfoot” was so popular that the band later used it on one of their own DVD releases https://t.co/p0jU2qKOv5 via @YouTube
