Man, India’s selection committee really messed this one up. Such a beautiful film. One of the year’s best.

this app is genuinely the worst. pre 2023 i could've scrolled and found out how the hell little timmy managed this but instead all im seeing is a sea of blue checks from bots and farming accounts repeating the same thing in hopes to make enough of a payout to buy a sandwich

Manels today are widely criticised, because they’re noticed and seen as a bad thing. Whereas upper-caste conferences, panels, newsrooms etc are just so normalised, and so under-critiqued, that most people don’t even register them as a problem.
Is there any difference between critique of an all-male panel vs an all upper-caste one? Not really. Exclusionary arrangements become accepted norms through what Erving Goffman called "studied non-observance". Or tacit consensus not to notice & comment upon certain exclusions.

Juxtaposition of government's intention to expand GW use with expert's caution probably raises an interesting qn - if the social preference on the rate of 'exploiting' a natural resource is unsustainable, to what extent policy can/should override existing preferences?

Scaling participatory groundwater management beyond successful case studies is a difficult challenge. Atal Bhujal Yojana is trying to achieve that scaling. So happy that IWMI can contribute in that effort through its work in this space under the #NPSInitiative and #NEXUSGains.
🎉We are delighted to share the signing of an MoU between IWMI and the National Project Management Unit - @AtalJal, @DoWRRDGR_MoJS, Government of India. Through this partnership, we look forward to working for sustainable water solutions and mutually agreed objectives. #OneCGIAR

The biggest humiliation fetish in the world is currently underway in the comments section of every Zionist post on Twitter ---- Indian Hindus insisting over and over again that they would love to live/work in Israel, and Israelis responding with laughter+racist abuse.

Interesting given the criticism some times directed at polders, as exacerbating the harm in coastal Bangladesh
''We don't want relief, we want a strong embankment'' — the only demand of the people of the cyclone-prone areas of the coast of #Bangladesh. They are making the same claim after #CycloneRemal; As they have made this claim after other cyclones before. 📸 Collected

Thank you everyone for the good wishes! I’m really overwhelmed! I prefer to stay away from social media. But I noticed some fake accounts on my name so thought it best to start my account. This is me!

Seeing lots of snide comments (and self praise for their own rationality) by people who don't understand why other people find this study problematic. They should think harder. This study is arguably neither useful nor ethical (1/N)
Wow. (It's not clear that the boost to downstream outcomes like flyouts could hold in long-run equilibrium, or that added visibility really is the mechanism driving it. But still, pretty striking, QED!)

while benefitting from that exact hierarchy, call for "co-created non-hierarchal knowledge" makes one question its meaning. None of the perks (money, influence) of that co-created knowledge is intended to be shared. Maybe just ask for better research & learning the context well?

These houses do not have #AC. There is no heat reduction system. People on the coast of #Bangladesh face frequent cyclones. They suffer a lot from natural disasters. Added to this list of risks is heat wave. Hot April has exacerbated the crisis for #climatevulnerable people.

Such an important report..
The long walk for potable water in Bangladesh Rural women in the coastal region of Bangladesh are forced to walk several kilometers every day to fetch water for their families. Heatwave makes coastal women's struggle to collect water even more difficult. https://t.co/oaW53y2djw
