while i absolutely understand that this reason is Why women are so drawn to MLM romance, i don’t necessarily think “removing women = safety” is a Good thing to be celebrating about your show
#HeatedRivalry creator Jacob Tierney on why women love the show: "Women love these books. These are books written by a woman. These are books largely consumed by women. So I wouldn’t want to speak on behalf of a female audience, but I think that what women are presented in

back at Xtra with a take on this year’s less than stellar sapphic representation from shows like The Last of Us, Gen V, Grey’s, and so many more:

2024 was a great year for queer women on TV. But from ‘The Last of Us’ to ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ 2025’s Sapphic storytelling slid backward

it's a really, really grim time to be a critic, but that's exactly why we've gotta keep doing it. unimaginably depressing to lose tv & film, but @yogurttowne & i are doing our damnedest to keep music up & kicking. if you want criticism to stay alive, please keep reading it!

thank you to @annagovert, @LacyMB, and everyone else who made paste film & tv such a welcoming place — i’m so grateful to have worked with all of you

i got my start at paste as a tv intern, & in light of recent news i just want to shout out the incredible editors & writers i’ve worked w/ in our film & tv sections. i’m so excited for the future of paste music, but i wouldn’t be here if not for paste tv, & losing it truly stings

film and TV have always been part of Paste, from some of the earliest online iterations of the site. there are no roots without those elements, and it’s just so gutting to see them cast aside

Gutted to hear this today. I loved reading all the passionate voices across Paste and I was really grateful to Anna for allowing me to be a part of that. Where else could I write about the power rice held over me in Pachinko? Another blow to our industry. https://t.co/B4zrWfZ451

the shuttering of Paste TV in particular feels like a huge slap in the face to everyone who worked to make that section as stellar as it was, from Allison to Lacy and all the writers who joined us in between

There used to be so many great websites for movies and film criticism and now we're down to a handful
Today, @PasteMagazine shuttered all its non-music verticals, a choice I am both professionally and personally heartbroken about. Sadly,I am once again looking for a place that wants to let me write about Books and TV on the regular, so hit me up if that’s you or anyone you know.

Paste shuttering its non-music verticals is a real blow to entertainment journalism — not only because the work published there was rich and varied but because their editors were so generous to early-career writers still honing their voices. Like others, I owe them a great deal.

i wouldn’t be surprised if some fans of Campaign 2 are a little disappointed by the way some of the season plays out (particularly w the pointed lack of Yasha throughout), but the threads laid down from the start sew enough more than enough faith for the future

didn’t get to properly review #TheMightyNein but i can confirm that it’s awesome. the shifted focus to the politicking makes for compelling world-building, but the show shines the brightest when these compelling characters just get to talk to each other

i and so many others put our hearts and souls into Paste TV and to see it cast aside with no fanfare is just heartbreaking. it truly did not have to be this way
