Decided I was being a curmudgeon, went back to the app. It forced me to do a breathing exercise as “my first habit” and then showed me a giant animated fruit machine style piñata animation labelled “50% OFF!”. Still haven’t seen the main UI yet. My mental health is so improved.

I wanted a simple daily habit tracker. Downloaded top one on App Store. It asked many questions, told me I can be a better version of me, quoted airport bookshop favourite Atomic Habits, then asked me for an annual payment, then showed an animated discount offer when I clicked X.
