@HeleneBismarck As ever, when people speak, they always tell you more about themselves than about that of which they are speaking.

“This country is broken, and it was broken by the Conservatives. So we’d like to give them the opportunity to break it a little bit more.” #TurquoiseTories
This country is broken, and it was broken by the Conservatives. Anyone who’s prepared to say that out loud, leave it behind, and actually help put things right is welcome to join the fight for Britain’s future.

Those are two separate things.
No Parliament may bind its successor and we will not honour any clause. If Starmer signs this, it’s a democratic outrage. https://t.co/qbYfVGDZnA

Were EU Freedom of Movement to be restored there wouldn't be a rush of immigration from Eastern Europe countries, because EU membership has enabled them to close most of the economic gap with the UK. British politicians should stop quaking in fear whenever Freedom of Movement is

The racism, the predatory politics, the banality and cruelty: we struggle to make sense of it, but JG Ballard foretold everything we are living through now, says Guardian columnist Aditya Chakrabortty

I want to say something many will hate but it needs to be said. I have met Nigel Farage. I do not know him well but I know the world he moves in. We move in similar circles sometimes. The kind of private rooms and members clubs that most people in Britain will never see. I know

@elonmusk The EU Commission IS elected — by the national governments and the EU population, albeit not directly. The President is nominated by the Council (where the heads of the national government are) and has to gain the majority in the Parliament (which is directly elected by EU

Crikey, this is so full of misinformation and misrepresentation, it’s hard to know where to begin. No mention of the main main decision-making body (the European Council, made up of elected heads of government). Denial of MEPs’ ability to propose legislation, etc.
🇪🇺 WHO ELECTED THEM? NO ONE. THE EU IS RULED BY A BUREAUCRATIC MACHINE, NOT DEMOCRACY Call it what it is: the European Commission is not democratic. It’s not even close. While Brussels lectures the world about democratic values and the rule of law, the truth is that the real

@elonmusk @grok What would you call the circulation of blatantly untrue stories like this to 64 million people, which were debunked on here by local media 13 hours before the above posts were posted? https://t.co/47Lg2mQYNa Is this not an important test of your powers to discern truths

Netflix quietly filmed a final interview with Dr. Jane Goodall, to be released only after her death. In it, she jokes about blasting Trump and Elon Musk into space… then leaves the world with two words: “Don’t lose hope.” A legendary sign-off.

#bbcqt ‘s holding of a special debate on migration seems almost designed to promote the one issue on which Reform wants us to concentrate to the exclusion of all other problems:
Zack Polanski, "Margaret Thatcher said there's no such thing as society and then the Tories over 14 years shut the community centres down" "How do you expect people to integrate when they have nowhere to gather together?" "English language learning for foreign nationals has

A senior Oxford historian @RobertGildea has now said it plainly: Britain 🇬🇧 needs a public inquiry into Brexit and it could be the pathway to rejoining the EU. His core points are devastating: 🔹 Brexit failed to control immigration – replacing EU workers with asylum hotels
