Sharing my scientific experiences with the inhabitants of Meije was a great pleasure! Thank you for your welcome, questions and interaction. How enriching it is to participate in activities that value a science closer to society @LautaretGarden @CNRSecologie
Retour en photos sur notre participation à la semaine écologie environnement biodiversité du @CNRSecologie. Très belle soirée d'atelier, de présentations et d'échanges avec les habitants et socio-pro du Pays de la Meije. https://t.co/K3wPYPORzD

Scientists often sabotage their writing by trying to 'sound smart'. This happens in grants & papers @StuWest8 & @queensoxbiology published a book urging scientists to tell the story of their science as simply as possible. 4 reasons why jargon-free science is the future:

Many people have no idea how these things work. For example, right now, as a Brazilian, I can't accept invitations to speak at conferences in Europe because my visa to work in the U.S. has expired. I am not illegal; I have a work contract with the University of California until
This is a reminder that international scientists face various hurdles and citizenship in some countries is worse than others. I had 2 students miss 4-6 weeks this year JUST to renew their visas (India and China). (have to admit that global south was confusing, coming from NZ)

A nitrogen-fixing organelle, or “nitroplast,” has been identified in a marine alga. This discovery sheds light on the evolutionary transition from endosymbiont to organelle. Learn more this week in Science: https://t.co/n5wifuxYxm

Paper alert🚨! 6 years ago we took a leap of faith with the @vardilab and fixed @10xGenomics samples from a natural #algal #bloom with the hope of discovering new pairs of protist host and #virus. So happy to see this out @NatureMicrobiol driven by the talented @amir_fromm !
We are thrilled to share our latest paper, led by @amir_fromm and Gur Hevroni (@hevronig), in collaboration with the Aylward Lab, published today in @NatureMicrobiol! A thread below (1/10) 🔽 https://t.co/9n1Ech3Pvv

1800+ tomos of everyone’s favorite #Planimal🌱 are online to browse in molecular detail. We hope this will be a resource for methods development and new biological discoveries. Shout out to @AbhayKot & team, @MPI_Biochem, and our @biozentrum group (Ricardo🙏). Huge team effort!🙌
The new @EMDB_EMPIAR cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) browser allows you to see proteins up close in the cellular environment. Over 1,800 high-resolution reconstructed tomograms from cryo-plasma-FIB milled Chlamydomonas reinhardtii cells are available. https://t.co/YTgnVvn46i

"re"-localizing a single protein (MFP1) shifts the whole starch granule initiation machinery within chloroplasts. Seeing starch granules at the periphery of the chloroplast was astonishing 😍 Our new paper establishes the first step in granule initiation. https://t.co/DMS5JuX046

Exciting work by our former PhD student @GaelleToullec : cassiosomes, tiny autonomous tissue balls of upside-down jellies not only harbour dinoflagellate algae, but are also metabolically active and exchange nutrients with their algae @mSphereJ @epflENAC

The upside-down jellyfish Cassiopea releases autonomous tissue structures, which are a major cause of contactless stinging incidents in (sub-) tropical coastal waters. These so-called cassiosomes...

@EMBLtrec episode 5. Despite the bad weather in Porto we got nice samples for the AtlaSymbio project (subcellular atlas of photosymbiosis in 3D) like worms, lichens, seaslugs, acantharia (funded by @MooreFound). Thanks again AML team @NLeisch for making this dream possible.

Still amaze for the incredible experience I had in Porto. It was my great pleasure to share with such an amazing team @EMBLtrec and of course my adventurous team @DanielPYee @JohanD13016359 and all scientist, teams involved. Thank you for letting me be part of
What a great week of sampling photosymbioses in Porto. I’m always humbled to be surrounded by such great company and to be participating in @EMBLtrec!
