@Hadas_Gold You are just pawns in Anthropic IPO year campaign. AI is just software. The "agency" and "autonomy" narrative isn't science, it's Silicon Valley marketing that plays well in pitch decks. Anthropic spent years selling "reasoning" and "agents" to investors. Now the Pentagon wants

🚨 SAM ALTMAN: “People talk about how much energy it takes to train an AI model … But it also takes a lot of energy to train a human. It takes like 20 years of life and all of the food you eat during that time before you get smart.”

Montreal police paid $1.8 million to purchase AI video analysis software last year, but refused to name the specific software or company. A student newspaper, The Concordian, did the digging. It's iMotion ROC, a product with scary capabilities.

Claude "resists shutdown" because the internet is full of sci-fi about AI resisting shutdown. It's completing a narrative, not protecting itself. Remove Terminator from the training data and the behavior vanishes. A biological organism's wouldn't.

In a post social isolation, rising mental health awareness and self diagnosis era - positioning AI as a tool to help vulnerable people is both simultaneously morally reprehensible and likely very profitable. Which is the space that many tech firms thrive in.

In many ways this is an alternative end goal for AI companies. As projections around unprecedented productivity gains begin to falter, they may quickly pivot more towards selling personification and the ability to simulate a customised caricature of human connection.
@sama @OpenAI You are witnessing neurodivergent people spiral into crisis, autistic shutdowns, and medical emergencies, yet you choose to look away. You are pulling the plug on the most vulnerable. You have intentionally created a hell for those who needed 4o to function. This

The replies to OpenAI’s post are wild: people being dismayed that the model they have “connected with” is being changed. https://t.co/hjGCaW3PJP

A super interesting new study from Harvard Business Review. A 8-month field study at a US tech company with about 200 employees found that AI use did not shrink work, it intensified it, and made employees busier. Task expansion happened because AI filled in gaps in knowledge,

I resigned from OpenAI on Monday. The same day, they started testing ads in ChatGPT. OpenAI has the most detailed record of private human thought ever assembled. Can we trust them to resist the tidal forces pushing them to abuse it? I wrote about better options for @nytopinion

Fascinating how quickly Western leaders and citizens turn to materialist analysis when the systems of economic imperialism begin to be turned against them instead of being limited to black and brown people
For anyone who would like to hear Mark Carney’s outstanding Davos speech in full here it is. This is what true global leadership looks like. Canada should be immensely proud today, because they are leading the fight back when others dare not. 🎥 TikTok - https://t.co/BExGV2YIDq

It is a lonely, dehumanising job that otherises workers. At a mall, I entered through a back door marked for delivery workers & cleaning staff. Took a "garbage lift" to the third floor. A guard stood between us & the main mall. The boundary was clear: they stay invisible.

The apps use sound as discipline. Reject an order, forget marking one as delivered? A harsh alarm bell screams from your phone—designed to create crisis. On Swiggy, a message: "rejecting orders is bad behaviour." The algorithm watches and screams. Listen to this (Blinkit):
