In medicine, we don’t “debate” big topics. We peer review them. We study them. It doesn’t mean that opinions don’t change and can’t vary. It just means that practice isn’t changed in arguments with Presidential candidate lawyers who can out gish gallop doctors and scientists.

This is horrifying
The manager of Harvard Medical School's morgue is accused of letting buyers come into the morgue to pick what remains they wanted to buy, then stealing parts of donated cadavers like brains, skin and bones. https://t.co/GHhX4UGBZW

Worthwhile work. This seems an easy question for the Bluebook.
Seriously! Slave cases are still cited as good law. This team is trying to change that https://t.co/ftjNfa31Ia

It's just very weird to worship the founders—who specifically rebelled against an unaccountable monarch that couldn't be held accountable—while thinking the president should be similarly unaccountable

You won't find a more brilliant and generous scholar than @SandyDarity. It's so refreshing to see him call out this racist dog whistle & set the historical record straight. For more information, check out the wonderful book, From Here to Equality, that he & @IrstenKMullen wrote.

Question for #histmed Are there any works on the history of domestic violence as a women’s health issue? I can find contemporary sources (1970s/1980s onward) but nothing covering a time earlier than that. Work on early American DV focuses more on the legal side.

This especially sucks when your colleagues turn a cold shoulder to academic mothers as if we are no longer “real scholars.”
Opinion | A Not-So-Silent Crisis: Too often motherhood seems incompatible with academe, and colleges should actually do something about it, writes Irina Popescu. #HigherEd

Love it!
As a proud Pennsylvanian, I always believe in hiring staffers from my home state. But I’m afraid my new employee is just not working out. Drinking on the job is prohibited. Sorry @KateFlannery

Texas almost approved a school voucher program in the 1950s — to avoid desegregation

We really should be grateful to grad workers and non-TT faculty. They've powered the academic labor movement & those of us fortunate to have tenure or be on the tenure track would be so much worse off without their leadership.
