See I am a pessimist about AB politics and I expect a UCP win.
I didn't think anything would affect me tonight...but seeing the Lacombe-Ponoka candidate that compared LGBTQS+ kids in schools to human feces in cookie batter leading with 72% makes me physically ill.
Private Healthcare doesn't "reduce wait times".
It stops some people from having access, so those with more $$$ have the space.
It doesn't magically double services. It makes them exclusive.
Got blocked by so many Albertans today for saying that the NDP didn't cause the oil recession and the UCP didn't cause the current boom.
People big mad about the fact that oil is a global commodity.
I am thinking about the reactions if Notley had spent 1.3 BILLION with nothing to show for it.
Not jobs. Not services. Not infrastructure. Nothing.
She'd have to get a new identity and go into protective custody for her own safety.
The double standard in AB is outrageous.
This curriculum is so bad that there is a Facebook group called "Parents Against Alberta's New Curriculum Draft" that already has 4.3 thousand members in under 24 hours.

When gas prices were $1.09 and unemployment was at 7%, chat pages all over Alberta were irate & blamed Notley and the NDP (photo from local gas station below).
Now, gas is $1.39 and unemployment is 8.7%. Where are the billboards? 🤔
Awww 3 years on Twitter and I got my first hate mail. It's like a right of passage.
These guys are so nice and convincing I've totally changed my stance on public education.
Every UCP leadership candidate right now:
"Sure, I voted in favor of every policy I'm claiming to be against now. Yes I saw corruption and said nothing. I was complicit in cuts to vulnerable populations. Believe me, I'm not one of the baddies. Pick me for change"
#ABleg
If you don't like Kenney you *really* won't like Brian Jean.
I'm from
#ymm
and speak from experience with both.
If these two are the best hopes for the UCP - you might need to support a new party 😬
I'm 36, mother of 3, and when the Prime Minister says that we have a problem with racism and misogyny in this country I don't assume they are referring to me.
Like a reasonable person.
I am 46, mother of 3 children, paid my way through college working 3 jobs, worked 50-60 hours a week as a single mom to keep a house hold running. Retail manager for 20 years, and give to my community. However
@JustinTrudeau
thinks I'm a racist mysognist who needs to be dealt with.
Don't try to explain to me that a two household rule (which can mean 2 people total) is fair for Thanksgiving when 18,000 unmasked people can still fill an arena.
No.
It's fun living in Alberta where a child will get a note sent home if there is pinworm in the class, but not a note for covid because suddenly it is a privacy concern.
So much winning.
When Poilievre says "You'll have to earn a living rather than getting it from taxpayer's money" he's demeaning every public servant-from health care workers and teachers to police and fire fighters. He's saying their pay isn't earned.
It's especially hypocritical coming from him
The fact that you can purchase and display "Trudeau is a dictator" decals without fear of legal persecution shows he is not actually a dictator.
You look foolish.
#TrudeauTheTyrant
(targeting the audience 😂)
65% do not support Provincial police
99% do not support the curriculum
78% do not support withdrawing from CPP.
UCP is pushing for all of the above.
They say that 62% on equalization is a "landslide mandate".
Really, they only care about numbers in their favour.
#ABpoli
I would like to apply to be a chalk scrubber for the UCP GoA. I hear they pay $84 per sidewalk.
Judging by their approval ratings, I'll be rich by 2023.
#ABpoli
Saw 'Berta Bro antimaskers in the wild at a Chapters just now. They were told to wear a mask or they'd have to leave, and told about the option to shop online.
They yelled "Why would we support you at all?!"
...the most shocking part is that they entered a place with books.
Something I have learned from speaking to some conservatives is that they no longer trust professions they consider to be "the left". They think doctors will ignore vaccine injuries for partisan reasons, that teachers will ignore facts they don't like, etc.
1/
My opinion:
The inquiry and war room have lived up to their purpose.
Their purpose was never to get jobs back, find illegal activity, or uncover scandal.
It was to transfer money from Albertans to friends of the UCP in a massive grift. Mission accomplished.
My favourite part of the UCP campaign is how they talk about how crime is rampant and schools are overcrowded and only they can fix it, etc.
Do they forget they are not in opposition? 😂
Why are teachers and nurses the public service jobs that constantly need to defend their worth?
Nobody questions the capital planning contracts or infrastructure budgets, or even asks what the workers are paid, despite it also being paid for by taxes.

I was just muted from Jason Kenney's facebook with my comment deleted for voicing respectfully that I do not wish for him to control our CPP and police force.

This can stop 👇
Anna does not want a vaccine. She is white. It is reported that Anna has fears about safety, she is reported as an individual.
John does not want a vaccine. He is FN. It is reported that FN people are hesitant about vaccines. He is reported as a group.
The recent news in Texas hits closer to home than I would like, living in a province commonly referred to as "the Texas of Canada"
Pay attention to who you vote for 💗
Before any Albertan steps behind in support of provincial police, ask yourself why a government that calls itself "fiscally conservative" is willing to spend hundreds of millions & up to 30% more to have personal control of law enforcement.
It isn't for your benefit.
#ABpoli
The Venn Diagram of people who pretended to be concerned about mental health during the pandemic and the people making fun my anxiety around reopening today make up a perfect circle.
A circle of terrible humans.
Kenney being cute one night doesn't negate what his government has done / continues to do to public education and teacher morale.
He cut support for children with special needs. Not a little. Flat out erased it for Kindergarten aged students.
Those harms are too fresh for me 🤷♀️
"I pay their wages" is a common sentiment directed towards public service workers.
I would like to offer a further look. Every penny invested into public services is put back into our economy. I'm not even talking about how public workers pay taxes back, I'm talking (1)
Saw people thanking Kenney for stopping masking in kids because of an unsubstantiated claim that "speech impediments are up by 300%"
Even if it were true, Kenney has made huge cuts to early childhood interventions, including speech pathologists. He doesn't deserve applause.
Responded to an Edmonton call for artists that was vague on payment. I asked what the reward was and...
The arts contest winner gets to work for free and have their art used for free. 😑
Do they have plumbing contests where best plumber gets to fix facilities for free?
Two men found incompetent in their positions and under investigation are shuffled yet again to new cabinet positions without penalty.
Two women have been demoted so far - why? One spoke against Kenney's sky palace party during restrictions and the other traveled internationally.
Things that would be headline news if we had an NDP government:
Suncor laying off over 1500 employees while making a third quarter profit of 1.4 billion.
Spending 3.5 million to bring 100 people to COP28 (Notley would make negative headlines if she sent a single delegate).
I wish Albertans could disconnect the price of oil with credit or admonishment of government.
NDP would also have a balanced budget at current oil prices. The UCP did nothing to cause high oil, just like the NDP inherited an global oil recession.
Focus on what they do control.
"But Akin acted unprofessionally"
Yes, so call out Akin.
Pierre Poilievre labeling the entire media as the enemy, as biased, as leftist hecklers as a result. That's dangerous. That's Trumpian.
It's indefensible and we need to protect Freedom of the Press.
#PierrePoilievre
Rempel, Sloan, Rebel News, Artur P, Kevin J...to name a few who are seizing this opportunity.
This isn’t about freedom of religion, or even Covid. This is the alt-right demonstrating that nobody can tell them what to do, they are superior, and they feel above the law.
It's wild that school starts in Sept and a new curriculum is supposed to be taught and teachers are just making their own resources and sharing them on Facebook because nothing is available.
Great job UCP!
Me: "The amount wasted on off brand Tylenol we either never received or expired could have built a highschool"
Responses on X
"Notley wasted money!"
"Get a job!"
"Union hack"
"This is an orchestrated leftist response!"
...Okay OR hear me out it could have built a high school.
Over the next several weeks the gov will begin to pump out anti-union propaganda, and try to convince people that the teacher's union and education are separate entities.
Education doesn't exist without educators. Educators ARE the ATA members that voted today, elected reps.
Had a panic attack and left a workout this morning. Used to be 12 socially distanced stations you stay in. Don't know what I expected today
It's packed. Like sardines. As many people as can fit, rotating through stations and equipment with no wiping between.
Too much, too fast.
Oil workers were not laid off because of non-profit environmental groups. They were laid off because temporary contracts ended once expansions were completed. The price of oil fell and oil companies focused on streamlining employment and maximizing profit. Stop lying to them.
Foreign-funded misinformation campaigns to landlock Alberta's resources caused untold hardship for thousands of energy workers & their families.
Today, we released a report that shines a light on these coordinated efforts to harm our province.

It's populism in a nutshell. Tell people they are victims of the elite, then tell them who the elite are. In this case it isn't even financial or social elite - It's people with information or expertise in the public sphere.
What a backwards world...
3/
The problem with legalizing weapons "for victims" is that you also legalize them for the attacker.
You would think a Minister of Justice would realize this...
Kenney "I've always said we're never looking for 100% perfect compliance here, that's not realistic. We just hope people would make an effort, broadly, to follow the guidelines"
Wow.
What a thing for a provincial leader to say.
#Abpoli
"Only God can judge us" is an extremely problematic thing for the a chief of police to say (context is Lethbridge chief just said it in relation to the stalking of
@SPhillipsAB
)
It sounds like he is making his own job obsolete, if we are waiting on God to uphold the law

Off to my job where I supervise over 100 unmasked people in a cafeteria each day, while our gov stays home because it's too dangerous for them to sit in a room with half that amount of masked people.

Looked at FB comments on news article about record ICU numbers and I'm experiencing a new level of hopelessness.
Tons of people commenting "We didn't have this issue last year without vaccines. HMMM..."
....these people. It hurts. The lack of simple brain activity hurts.
I commented on Lagrange FB with an article about cuts to children's support funding after someone said there had been no cuts. It was removed from her page and I was reported for "violating community standards with spam"
That's why the UCP loves FB. They can censor and screen.
Weird how none of the cheerleaders for Smith's policies can explain to me how creating barriers for sex education and forced reporting of preferred names is saving kids from "permanent, life altering decisions"
This is why the NDP won't take questions from Western Standard.
This hateful, bigoted, fake news is trash.
Schools simply foster a safe and caring environment for students to be who they want. That's it. There's no indoctrination, drag story, etc.
Homophobic rag.

The UCP has paid for pro-curriculum ads to be played on almost every radio station.
This is an unfair fight and our kids will be the ones who lose.

The same people that didn't want teachers to get any priority in vaccinations are the ones arguing that schools are safe to reopen. 🙄
I want schools to reopen too. When staff are vaccinated and safe...as safe as Kenney & co who remain working from home.
Why does it feel like all new announcements, buildings, and gov investments are going to Red Deer?
I mean...congrats to Red Deer but I thought Kenney was premier not mayor 😅
Not mincing my words for lying liars who lie.
They want you to think that a resolved case from 2006 has more impact on your child's education than the disastrous curriculum they're trying to distract from. It doesn't.
Me to Kenney: "Stop lying about why oil workers lost jobs"
Dude in my mentions: "I'm the reason you have a warm house and can hold a painting!"
....ummm...okay? When will some people understand that anti-UCP isn't anti-Albertan workers. It means the opposite for me actually.
I’m not someone that idolizes people, but
@RachelNotley
just started following me after a hard week and it made my day.😊 I just appreciate her.
Happy Monday!
Ah,
@JKenney
's issues management team now trying to claim Twitter turned on Safety mode, not them.
Did you know manual features could turn on automatically? Me neither.
This survey is a sham and doesn't even give you the option to choose CPP. Questions are all framed as support of Alberta Pension with zero alternative.
Completely unethical.
At least when Kenney took his multi-week vacation he scheduled social media posts. Since the awkward Health Minister swap he's ghosted completely.
Meanwhile, Notley is working tirelessly to inform, encourage, and share the realities of our current situation.
Night and day.
The thing about cheating in a leadership race is that without real support, you're going to struggle to govern.
@RCMPAlberta
how is the investigation going?
Over 18 million spent bribing the unvaccinated, so far.
I wonder if UCP MLAs that defended privatization/sale of parks, ripping down the living wall, cutting school supports, deindexing AISH, etc in the name of "fiscal restraint" ever feel embarrassment or shame.
They should.
Canada's Conservatives will implement a month-long GST Holiday this December. It's part of our plan to provide immediate cost of living relief for Canadians.
Hello
@AdrianaLaGrange
. If
education staff are expected to do the work of contract tracers for "several weeks", they should be compensated for that work. You must not continue to take advantage of them in your absence of leadership.
The UCP dismissed the curriculum they discarded as lacking consultation:
Facts:
1st curric : took over 7 years to develop over 2 govs. Thousands of consultations from public, teachers, professionals, etc.
UCP curric : 1 year all in. A fraction of the feedback & consultations
Finished my sketchy bee mural!
At the Leduc Art Walk - it will have a permanent home in Leduc. Location TBA!
Thank you to the Leduc Arts Foundry for commissioning artists 🥰
Everywhere I go in AB I see lawn signs. They range from save our parks, to protect our healthcare, support public ed, stop the cuts to post secondary, etc etc.
So many issues.
When Notley was in I saw stop carbon tax signs. That was it.
We still have carbon tax.
