Claims that Australia faces a productivity crisis are overblown. Weak productivity didn’t cause the current problems facing Australian workers (falling real wages, high interest rates, unaffordabil...

It’s a bad day for Canadian pride and patriotism, as we stand down from retaliating against Trump’s aggression against our workers and industries. But there’s always hope on the horizon. Remembering that lesson and so many others that Jack taught me.
Today, New Democrats and Canadians alike remember Jack’s legacy. We recommit ourselves to carry forward Jack's vision of a Canada built on love, hope, and optimism 🧡

The vast majority of Canadians who voted Liberal in the last election - especially the vote-switchers - did so because they wanted the strongest possible voice to stand up for Canada. Canadians got capitulation instead. Elbows officially down.
Canada’s unions refuse to accept punishing tariffs on critical Canadian export industries as “the new normal.”. Now is the time for the government to stand strong against President Trump’s attacks on Canadian workers and our economy—not cave in to his demands. #cdnpoli.

An attack on one is an attack on all. Canada’s unions are mobilizing significant legal and political resources to deliver the promise of free and fair collective bargaining - rights that are protected by the Constitution and are the only way to build a strong Canadian economy.
Tonight, the heads of Canada’s unions met in an emergency session to stand united behind Air Canada Flight Attendants in defying the government’s unconstitutional attack on workers’ rights.

Important message from Canada’s largest private sector union.
The federal government’s message today to big federal employers: don’t worry about having to bargain. We got you. My message to those employers and the federal government: we will always and I mean always defend the right to strike and to fair and free collective bargaining. 1/.

Doubly true now that PM Carney has interfered in the dispute to curtail these workers’ constitutional right to free and fair collective bargaining in favour of an employer who wants them to work for free.
You would have a hard time dismissing gender in this @AirCanada flight attendant conflict. Imagine the nerve of this mostly female workforce to demand to be paid for their work. You can only imagine the conversation happening in the C-suite right now.

Strong message advocating for Canadian workers’ constitutional right to free and fair collective bargaining from @albertaNDP leader @nenshi.
Today’s action by the federal government to force Air Canada flight attendants back to work without pay is wrong. Like all workers, they deserve to be compensated for every hour on the job and to negotiate a fair contract at the bargaining table. That’s basic fairness. It is.

5. He doesn’t understand who elected him. A number of seats went to the LPC because progressive NDP voters - scared of Trump and wary of PP’s extremism - lent Carney their vote and their confidence. Those voters have every reason to be pissed off today.

3. He doesn’t understand how inflation affected people’s lives. Not just the AC flight attendants but workers - organized & unorganized - throughout the economy. 4. He doesn’t understand the labour movement. An attack on one is an attack on all. PMO will have to repair this.

1. He doesn’t care about public opinion. The public is on the side of AC flight attendants. 2. He doesn’t GAF about the constitution. Workers in Canada have a right to free association, meaning the right to withdraw labour as part of negotiation.

Even Poilievre wouldn’t have interfered in workers’ right to free/fair bargaining as PM Carney did today. This is a major vulnerability for the PM. He just told us he listens to CEOs, not folks who bust their butts for a living. 5 things this bad decision tells us:.
Mark Carney just rewarded his corporate buddies, forcing flight attendants back to work. Often, this work is not paid. It's a big gift to Air Canada and a clear message to the C-suite crew that he will always have their backs, not the backs of working Canadians. My statement

And again, the CPC should make arguments based in reality. We deserve an Official Opposition that isn’t completely delusional.
Except it's not doing anything of the sort. EU leaders pledged $750 billion in American *energy* purchases over three years, a figure almost everyone agrees is somewhere between unrealistic and a complete fantasy. A quick thread, if you'd like?.
