Of all strikers in the Premier League in 2020/21, Harry Kane has blocked the most shots (3), made the most clearances (7) and made the most tackles (9).
When Arsenal went to Everton last season, Mertesacker, Wilshere, Coquelin, Rooney, Vlasic, Jagielka & Ashley Williams all played, Walcott was on the Arsenal bench and the managers were Koeman and Wenger. LAST SEASON.
Jose Mourinho shouldn't be blamed for *all* of Spurs' problems, but it is hard to think of another recent appointment that has had such a negative impact on so many individuals. Dier, Alli and Winks all nowhere near that England squad, when each could improve it at their best.
Bet you didn't realise there was a 30-year-old Englishman managing a top-tier club in France? Well, Will Still has just been given the Reims job full-time after impressing in his six games as caretaker. This is the story of how he got there.
It's actually crazy how many of Mourinho's games Tottenham have ended up chasing a goal with a central midfield of Hojbjerg and Sissoko - and therefore none of the CMs in the squad who can play through midfield and find, say, Kane's feet.
Poch: "When I say I am open, I am open, I cannot say that I am open but I’m closed to someone. But you can’t say that I’m open but on that I am not open. You are open and then you are open. Anything can happen. When I say I am open, I am open to listen to any club."
I really don't understand the criticism of Mourinho for this. With a seriously weakened squad he very nearly got a result against the best team in the world. Who cares if Spurs had less of the ball?
#thfc
Mourinho has launched a wilful defence of his tactics against Liverpool, insisting he had no choice but to be “pragmatic” & “more strategic than philosophical”.
Poch on Janssen:
Jan 23: "He’s not in Tottenham’s plans. Not in just the manager’s plans but the club’s plan. The relationship between the player and club doesn’t work."
Feb 1: “He’s going to be on the list. That's my decision, he'll be involved with the first team from today.”
Harry Kane is getting better and better while the Tottenham team around him just gets worse; (at least) 28 goals in a team that is likely to finish 8th is just remarkable.
A piece on the numbers behind his best season yet.
Liverpool have needed a goal inside the final 20 minutes to get a result in their last five league games. It's entertaining and fun, but is it sustainable for a title challenge?
Obviously last night wasn't a great performance, but the reaction has been so over the top. Southgate will have been happy to get a draw which virtually takes England through (his subs certainly suggest so), and they were good against Croatia a few days before! Calm down.
Cosmopolitan London is such a good location for a major tournament semi-final. Even in a global pandemic with travel banned, so many fans from both countries at Wembley, and a great atmosphere as a result. Love it.
Since tweeting this I've found Mourinho Twitter and it is utterly relentless. Beyond the people who will defend him no matter what, it's genuinely shocking how much his blaming of individuals caught on with Spurs fans. So many think Dier and Winks are just crap and Alli is lazy.

An utter pleasure to meet
@RyanMason
and chat about his playing days, how he fell in love with Tottenham and his move into coaching - which he is now loving, back at Spurs.
I can't help myself, so.. some personal news:
Today was my final day at the Telegraph. It's genuinely been a privilege to work with such a talented, friendly and hard-working team - there are too many people to thank but everyone really has made it an amazing (almost) five years.
What I find so crazy about Spurs is how consistently they make worse teams than them look incredible by sitting on a lead, conceding chance after chance, until they crumble. Best Newcastle have played in ages today - and a huge part of that is down to how Spurs play when ahead.
Ninth goal Spurs have conceded after the 80th minute in the league this season.
All but one of the previous eight have been crucial to the final result (an equaliser or match-winner).
Interview with Chris Ramsey on his time working under Tim Sherwood with the Spurs first team, what exactly they changed in training to help a young squad and Harry Kane's breakthrough at the end of that season.

's latest interview is with Andoni Iraola, newly-promoted and flying high with Rayo Vallecano, two points off the CL. Talks about the influence Vieira had on him while playing with Pirlo, Lampard and Villa. Only 39 so could be one to watch.
I rate Postecgolou for sticking to playing like this, but I thought it was pretty suicidal. You can't play that high a line and have no pressure on the ball. Only thing more crazy than the high line was the fact that Chelsea found it hard to play a simple pass to get in behind.
Been enjoying the

calendar all year, but particularly liked turning to October and finding this picture from a Richmond Academy game. We've all been there, number 12.
- Odegaard on the ball less often in dangerous areas / Rice finding him less than Partey did

I know Newcastle aren't at full strength but this is an all-time great Premier League performance. Like Klopp's Liverpool at their relentless, suffocating best.
Spoke to Leah Williamson about growing up in a household split between Spurs and Arsenal fans (her dad can't even bring himself to shout 'come on Arsenal'), doing an accountancy degree alongside playing & living the dream with her childhood club
I wonder how the current Newcastle players feel about this takeover. Probably spells the beginning of the end of their time there for a fair few of them. But they could also get a few years playing with whoever 2021's Robinho is.
If Arsenal's manager has openly said there are no more Covid cases, what possible justification is there for postponing Sunday? It feels a lot like teams are gaming this ad hoc system (and frustration at Liverpool potentially having done so doesn't give Arsenal the right to).
Mikel Arteta reveals Arsenal stayed in Liverpool overnight due to weather conditions. Saka to be assessed. No further covid cases so far. “We always want to try and play.” More on

Dier had a really poor season but he can't just be written off. He played in a system that didn't suit him and put him under way too much pressure. His leadership qualities alone shouldn't get him in the England squad but he is surely a character that Southgate would've wanted
Another shout for this: Ryan Mason on getting spotted on the pitches where Spurs' training ground is now built, how the signing of John Bostock helped him develop, finally breaking through under Poch, his move into coaching and why he loves his new role.
Proud to make the

splash today: PL clubs told to go green. Double page spread which also includes features on the example set by Forest Green Rovers and the hypocrisy of Fifa, happy to champion sustainability while taking money from Gazprom.
On Joe Hart... Can anyone explain to me why he overtook Paulo Gazzaniga as back-up keeper for Spurs? I'd been really impressed by Gazzaniga in the last couple of years and Hart isn't really doing much to show that concerns about his decline aren't warranted.
Hell of a stat from this week's

Spurs led Wolves for 87 minutes this weekend, which is the longest in Premier League history that a team has led for in a match that they ended up losing.
With this match almost done, we need to discuss an important issue: Premier League players now appear to be allowed to wear white ankle tape on non-white socks. This was banned a few years ago and is now still enforced ludicrously militantly at amateur level. We need answers.
Six of the last seven goals Dortmund have conceded have been from crosses. Spurs have scored more headed goals than any other team in the big five leagues. Enter Fernando Llorente.

Massively excited to have started with

Taken me a full day and a half to do this, but an exciting week for

Well, he'd better be.
I was so impressed by Sean Dyche when we got him on the

Kane's record after his first start after his last three serious ankle injuries:
6 goals in 8 games
11 goals in 8 games
8 goals in 7 games
Enforced time off tends to help him.
Spurs have 17 weeks until Xmas, and only 15 games to play in that time. But their best players all got a good rest this evening so they'll be fresh for that packed schedule at least.
Appalled by service in Yien restaurant in Muswell Hill this evening. Family meal, we were asked to leave after 5 mins because my brother, who has a learning disability, was being too noisy! Never experienced anything like it. Don't give them your custom if you live nearby.
