The data from San Francisco’s comeback is in. This is fully a trend not just a blip. More at

What's actually changing in San Francisco? We scan 170,000 civic data streams monthly to find out. Crime, housing, business, and more. Citywide reports and district-level deep dives. Click to read...
Notably crime is dropping in SF *faster* than any other major city in the US. This isn’t just a macro trend, we made changes and they are working.

I am in favor of progress. It has made life immeasurably better. With that said, a sustainable economy requires that everyone have a stake in the future. More work needs to be done. I don't want to slow down change. I want to speed up our planning so everyone has a stake.

Congratulations to @atrembath and @TedNordhaus for this next evolutionary step for @TheBTI - few organizations have had such an outsize impact on the transformation of conventional wisdom.
10 years ago this month, we announced that Michael Shellenberger was leaving @TheBTI. Breakthrough has transformed significantly since then. Today I'm pleased to announce the next step in that evolution. On Jan. 1, @atrembath will become the executive director and I will move

Rent is up. Groceries are up. Now Mount Sinai wants to raise health care costs by over $1B, forcing higher premiums and medical bills on New York families.

We can’t achieve “abundance” without the doers in the room. Policy goals are great, but if the engineers, builders, and operators aren’t in the room while we are having these conversations, we’ll be stuck with ideas that never leave the page.

Yes! Give cities the tools they need. Proud of SF @DanielLurie
Today we officially gave AI technology to 30,000 city employees, giving them tools to better serve the people of San Francisco. San Francisco is the global home of AI, and now, we’re putting that innovation to work for the people of this city. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is

Why are people so scared of innovation in political parties? We’ve already experienced the downside.
Another dumb story by political insiders talking to themselves. ‘Tech guys should leave it to the professionals’. The same ones who gave us Biden and Kamala? Or do they mean the professionals got Trump elected? Confused!

This is quite amazing. In a period when venture has struggled @ycombinator has found a way to pick and grow winners. H/t @garrytan
Of startups worth $5B+ started since 2012, Y Combinator was seed investor 20% of them (I'm also quite proud of @Initialized as seed co-lead for 3 of those too!)
