BREAKING: Congress gave final approval on a budget that guts Medicaid, defunds Planned Parenthood, and supercharges funding for ICE. We the people will bear the brunt of these harmful policies — and we won’t forget who caused this devastation to our health, rights, and dignity.

We’re urging all D.C. leaders to meet this moment by strengthening our rights, liberties, and community resources. And we’ll continue to do our part by educating our communities about their rights and what to do if those rights are violated.

The D.C. Council voted to pass several bills that rely on failed methods to address crime. We remain concerned about subjecting residents to dangerous conditions in pretrial detention, unjust restrictions on their right to protest, and curfews that ultimately put kids at risk. 🧵.

No one should be denied the medical care they need. Trans people deserve bodily autonomy – period.

Our government should not be kicking millions of people off Medicaid and denying life-saving care to fund the Trump administration's extreme deportation machine.

If we want our kids to be safe, we need funding for youth programs, not more reasons for police to arrest children in D.C.

The D.C. Council’s votes today could advance real public safety, or they could double down on failed methods that don’t keep us safe from crime or from abuse of power. Here’s what we’re watching out for. 🧵 (1/4)

Say it with us: disability rights are civil rights. ✊. July is Disability Pride Month – a time to recognize people with disabilities and celebrate the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Small-grant programs have a significant positive impact on vulnerable communities and must be funded for the benefit of everyone in the District. When we fund programs for LGBTQ+ and immigrant residents of D.C., we make all our communities safer and stronger. (3/3)
