We've created a guide that focuses on students’ rights under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution—things like speech & expression, student journalism, & the right to assemble. The guide also provides specific info for immigrant & LGBTQ+ students: https://t.co/DTM9R5bjCB

Every student in the U.S. has constitutional and other fundamental rights—you don’t lose your rights just because you enter a school. It's important to understand your rights and know how to defend them. And we at the ACLU-D.C. are committed to protecting students’ rights. 1/2

Let's make one thing very clear: The right to read and receive information is protected under the First Amendment, and that right doesn't go away in prison.

The government doesn't get to decide if your protest is funny, and the government officials can’t punish you for making them the punchline. That’s really the whole point of the First Amendment. We sued to protect our fundamental right to dissent.
