Since last week, six Black trans women have been found dead.
Repeat their names back aloud:
Brayla Stone. Little Rock, AR.
Merci Mack. Dallas, TX.
Shaki Peters, Amite City, LA.
Draya McCarty, Baton Rouge, LA.
Tatiana Hall, Philadelphia, PA.
Bree Black, Pompano Beach, FL.
Our hearts are heavy as we learn of the death of Dominique Jackson, a trans organizer who co-founded BreakOUT! in New Orleans. Dominique was found in Jackson, Mississippi. We are holding communities in New Orleans and Jackson in our hearts today as we grieve this loss.
Of these 23 beautiful lives taken from us in 2018, 22 were trans women. 16 were Black. One died in immigration enforcement custody. We remember, we cherish, & we rise up against transmisogyny, anti-Blackness, and the criminalization of migrants.

by honoring those who sacrificed so much for the benefit of trans and queer folks today.
#SylviaRivera

, so many others have paved the way for us. We lift them up as blueprints for trans liberation! Who are you honoring today?

: In a historic win
#SCOTUS
has ruled in favor of LGBTQ employees. Amid continued murders of Black people & powerful uprisings, we take a moment to celebrate today. This victory reflects the work of trans leaders who fought to make this possible.
We’ve always known this administration intends nothing short of the destruction of our communities. Here, written out plain, is their attempt to erase our very existence as transgender people. We
#WontBeErased
, we will fight back.
Today, Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells would have turned 28 years old. She had a whole life ahead of her. Dominique deserved to live. She deserved more joy, laughter, love, and celebration. Black trans women deserve to be cherished.

This attack on our bodily autonomy will move beyond abortions. We are seeing across the country that people are not able to access the medical care they need. Black people, disabled people, trans people have all experienced dangerous or fatal consequences when denied care.

(1/2) We are heartbroken to learn about the loss of Nex Benedict, a 16-year-old nonbinary student who was brutally beaten at Owasso High School and died on February 8th. We are devastated by this senseless act of violence and are sending love to all who loved them.
FACT CHECK 🚨 Leading medical associations like the American Medical Association, American Academy of Nursing, American Academy of Family Physicians & more agree - gender affirming care is safe for youth & decisions should be made between a healthcare provider, parents, and kids.
Today, the Florida Department of Health released guidance pushing back on

unscientific shift in the treatment of gender dysphoria for children and adolescents.
The press release is available here: …
Trans people have been here since the beginning of humanity. In many cases, we had important cultural roles in our communities. Our legacy is long and rich. And to this day, we continue to forge new paths forward so all people can thrive.
We're just going to bring this moment from

back for good measure.
Sending love to all of the trans youth out there.
We see you.
We believe you.
We love you.
There is support out there.

We are learning about the murder of

The unceasing violence on our Black trans family must end. Black trans women need to be cherished in life and their identities must be respected in death.

As we gather at convenings and community spaces, our sisters are in constant danger. This is why we fight—so Bee and Bailey, taken from us just this week, aren’t forgotten. We never forget why we do this work: to keep our people alive, thriving, and fighting for liberation.
We are devastated to learn of the passing of
@TransGriot
. Monica Roberts was a long-time movement leader, elder, & journalist who did groundbreaking work for our communities for decades. She means so much to all of us. This is heartbreaking and beyond words.
Roxsana Hernandez. How many presidential candidates know her name? She was a trans migrant living with HIV who died in ICE custody. There are growing humanitarian violations at the border and in migrant prisons.

even debating our rights is not easy to bear. We extend our love to all of you. Take some time to celebrate today. ❤️
Let our grief be another form of love for those who’ve been taken from us this year. We grieve to remember, to carry on their memory, to piece together the beautiful parts of their lives. Our family. You’ll always mean the world to us.

Johana Medina died on the first day of Pride month. We are in mourning.
“Devastated and outraged, but not surprised. These deaths are a direct result of U.S. government policy, and will continue unless we force dramatic change.”

Unreal to hear Trump talk about protecting all children 'born and unborn' while his administration locks migrant children in cages where multiple children have died. While his admin attacks trans youth and encourages schools to discriminate. Unreal.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a trans person who isn't familiar with employment discrimination, whether we've experienced it or heard of it from a friend.
We are here. We exist. We are resisting.

Our hearts are hurting. Six human beings who had more to say, to live, to experience. Six people with their own individual families, people they called friends and lovers. Six people who may have thought about what they’d do tomorrow, if only tomorrow wasn’t taken from them.
We are wholeheartedly in support of Aimee Stephens. Happy to see so many people show up for her.
Our trans community needs support right now! Share this video with three friends to spread the word about this monumental case reaching the Supreme Court next month.
#RiseUpOctober8
Aimee Stephens’s case is a big deal — the first Supreme Court case involving the civil rights of transgender people.
So we found some friends who want you to know about Aimee.
Trans and non-binary people have always been here — but our stories have routinely been buried by those in charge of recording history. Our transcestors paved the way to where we are today, and we owe it to them to tell their stories❤️
Black trans women and femmes are placed in harm’s way deliberately through abuse and neglect from the government and institutions of healthcare, housing, and employment. They are targeted by civilians, too. This violence is not accidental.

To trans youth in Florida, Alabama, Texas, and everywhere: you are loved and cared for by your community. Your queer & trans ancestors fought for your right to live as your authentic self, and your community is fighting now to create a world that is safe & beautiful for you. 💖
TODAY: SCOTUS determines whether settled law protecting queer and trans people in the workplace will be overturned. Despite the Trump administration lobbying SCOTUS to take away our rights, we fight back. We are watching.

This morning, as SCOTUS decides whether to take away LGBTQ rights in the workplace, we want to lift up our trans family.
This day is emotional for many of us, because demanding dignity is something we're too familiar with.
#RiseUpOctober8
Now is a moment where many people will be erasing the vast experiences that trans people have while seeking abortion care. The deliberate decision to remove trans people results in a incomplete story about what this SCOTUS decision criminalizing abortion means.

Violence that Black trans men face is often overlooked. The struggles Black trans men face are not spoken about until they're murdered. Brian Powers should be here with us. We're thinking of you, Brian. We won’t forget.

, with all due respect, supporting trans youth is not dangerous.
It is dangerous to do the very thing you suggest: forcibly confine youth to gender norms. We refuse to let that reasoning go on without consequence.

Elections disempower us to believe we have to choose the lesser evil, we know that we are the ones with true power.

Show some love to trans women today. Trans women are sacred to our world. 🌎
Let's make a few things clear:
1) This rule does NOT change laws. It's still illegal to discriminate against trans people.
2) Our community has proven our resilience. We will fight this.

This victory goes to advocates who fought tirelessly to protect the futures of trans people.

for honoring our ancestor Sylvia Rivera. Her commitment to some of the most marginalized people—incarcerated people, sex workers, homeless youth—taught us how to fight for trans liberation today.
There is a direct connection between anti-trans violence and U.S. imperialism.
The way the U.S. maintains its empire creates conditions of harm for trans communities.

Governor Abbott’s directive amounts to a draconian fear tactic intended to prevent adults from supporting trans youth. Hear us when we say that no directive will stop trans kids from being themselves, or parents from loving and supporting their kids.
Greg Abbot has officially directed Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers.
He has also instructed all teachers, doctors, and caregivers to begin reporting any trans students they see.
