Disney threw away Shonda Rhimes, who generated $2b for them, over ONE Disneyland pass. A 1-Day - Peak - Park Hopper pass was $174 in 2017. It’s not about the $. It’s about R-E-S-P-E-C-T. I wonder if that exec got fired.
Whenever Shonda Rhimes drops a new show, I think of the ABC executive who asked her "Don't you have enough?" when she asked for 1 extra pass at Disneyland, prompting her to end her relationship with the network and take all of her talent elsewhere.

If anyone is wondering how much free labor writers do and how much heartbreak we experience regularly, here you go! I don't know of any other career where people do as much free labor for so long, except in other arts, like music, dance, acting, etc.
Risk. Risk is reading an entire trilogy of books, writing a pilot, outlining a 5 yr arc, pitching the project, only to sell it & be immediately let go by the buyer because they “want to go in another direction” & receiving nothing but a small script fee over the course of 3 yrs.

One thing non industry people may not know… Writers don’t get a copy of their own episode on a disc or digitally. Your only options are to either buy your episode (wtf) or watch it in real time while doing a screen record (meh).
My 1st ep of TV is being wiped from the streamer after only 6 months!!! This totes blows Disney!!! Before there were dvd box sets to have as a keepsake. Now it will be as if it never existed 😢😭
