As context increasingly gets taken care of explicitly and implicitly over time - in both how we use AI and how we design AI systems, judgement becomes the only skill set that humans will be able to lean on to truly stand out. Part of that today is knowing where AI works vs not.
+1 for "context engineering" over "prompt engineering". People associate prompts with short task descriptions you'd give an LLM in your day-to-day use. When in every industrial-strength LLM app, context engineering is the delicate art and science of filling the context window.

Enterprise tools in coming days will be all about this. Firstly in-house teams/saas products build the foundation, and then business users empower themselves to solve for their own needs. If it's not clear already, UX of how users interact with systems is fundamentally changing.
I really like the term “context engineering” over prompt engineering. It describes the core skill better: the art of providing all the context for the task to be plausibly solvable by the LLM.

There's a lot of noise on the GTM front about AI-native/enabled solutions. All this will die down eventually, and it will need to unlock new business problem statements/companies that were unfeasible prior. Incumbents will infuse AI point solutions and perhaps on adjacencies.

1. Next level of unlock in SaaS is enabling non-tech folks to solve their own first-mile/last-mile problems which are gatekept by prod and dev bandwidth.2. Freed-up devs are going to engineer new services and become the new micro-entrepreneurs (on etc).
I just vibe coded a whole iOS app in Swift (without having programmed in Swift before, though I learned some in the process) and now ~1 hour later it's actually running on my physical phone. It was so ez. I had my hand held through the entire process. Very cool.

While this was an exceptional instance of a scaled up enterprise/company, this will become the norm for orgs starting up going forward. Unbecoming of SaaS is not zero tools, it's decoupled and federated system of records and workflows that are orchestrated to bring value.
Yes, we did shut down Salesforce a year ago, as we have many SaaS providers—an internal estimate is about 1,200 SaaS shut down. No, I don't think it is the end of Salesforce; might be the opposite. Here is what actually happened and how/why we originally intended to NOT share.
