Bye, bye US. waiting at the airport for our flight back after another two days of great science discussions and giving a talk MGH/Lurie Center/ Harvard Medical School. It was great to be back in the US after such a long time and to connect with friends and colleagues from there.

Happy to see the first paper of our lab published in #BiochemSocTrans. Julia Varga, Marie Kube, @luck_katja and me wrote a review about the structure, function and synthetic lethalities of the BAF chromatin remodeling complexes.

Loss of the main ATPase – which is frequently mutated in cancer – results in rapid chromatin changes. Super-enhancers are retained but lose accessibility, H3K27ac and BRD4 binding upon induction of intra-complex synthetic lethalities preventing BAF complex formation or activity.

Implementing the dTAG system, inhibitor and PROTAC treatment in combination with time-resolved genomics methods, our experiments reveal that cells require constant remodeling activity to maintain BAF-controlled sites accessible.
