How about the number of players? The previous map had 32 players, but we've boosted the number to 48 players for this one. This is to fit in with the story beats giving players calm at the start of the match, but ending in a free-for-all. But it's different every time!

After raising funds for Blast Royale a really interesting thing happened. Almost overnight around 250 people joined our Discord. These players were fans of a game that had been shutdown, Battle Lands Royale. They loved that game but it had no longer been supported.

and I were fans of games like Quake and Unreal Tournament. We liked fast and furious gameplay with twitch based skill:

Our team had been experimenting with multiplayer games of various types for several years. We had internal versions of a Portrait Handheld Shooter, PvE style Monster Hunter game and the initial Blast Royale, which was actually a Deathmatch game.
