for the opportunity of writing a JC article () and share this amazing work by Tiefenbeck et al. I was inspired and enlighten by this study, which incorporates digital insights into behavior change.
In this Journal Club, Ziqian Xia describes a

paper by Tiefenbeck and colleagues that showed how the digital transformation can be leveraged to enhance behavioural interventions.
Immensely grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement from this amazing community during a trying time in my research journey🙏🙏🙏. With mixed reviews in hand, I decided to revise the paper and appeal to the editor, possibly embracing the constructive path ahead
Eagerly seeking a PhD position for Fall 2024 to pursue exciting research on climate change and human behavior! Skilled in data analysis, statistics, R. Excellent publications in top journals () - let's make a difference! PIs, please DM! RTs appreciated!

INTERESTING! Although it is common sense that climate change communication would increase PEB. However, maybe there are crowding-out or sides effects here, such as a decrease in PEB when government actions are recognized, or worsening climate news triggers defensive mechanism.
A classic measure of pro-environmental attitudes (NEP) is going down over time in a new meta-analysis of 184 samples:
This seems inconsistent with increasing public concern about climate change and environment in general. What are the possibilities? 1/2
So if you know me you know I am a huge fan of the amazing Joel Millward-Hopkins who is not on the hellsite. I haven't shared this paper before, but I think it's one of his most important. "Why the impacts of climate change may make us less likely to reduce emissions"
🚨🌱Don't miss out on tomorrow's online colloquium lecture at 15:00 CET!
@CameronBrick
will talk about recent developments in pro-environmental behavior research. For more information, see . DM us for the Zoom link.
Inspired by the book "meta-analysis for public management and policy", I made this little cheatsheet summarizing the calculation of effect size.

Let's get the party started! This is probably the first call for a special issue
@Global_Env_Psy
- a new open-access journal devoted to environmental psychology. The call focuses on collective action and eco-activism. Great editors and topic!
I plan to continue using Mendeley for a while, but I believe I will eventually switch to Zotero. And yes, Mendeley Ref Manager is really a bad designed browser wrapper.
Appreciating the efforts of

Reviewers could decide to review or not. But many grad students are, unfortunately, waiting for review reports that determine their future.
Today we launch the Journal of Global environmental psychology. GEP has been co-developed by researchers in our field. It's free for authors & readers. We look forward to theoretical & applied work on the relationship between people & their environment

Is it effective to fight global climate change by making people care more about the climate?
According to a recent review by

A better strategy: Connect new interventions to fundamental, pre-existing social needs.

Ah yeah, strong social desirability may occur when self-reporting such behavior I guess. But people do report other's transgressive behavior.
Really important research, our behavior are definitely guided by our thinking. After understanding individual's perception, perhaps the intention-behavior gap will be the next step.
How well do people understand the climate impact of individual actions?
Not very well—and I think this type of research is foundational for understanding research priorities and crafting effective messaging. Kudos

Takeaway for future works: 1) Most studies neglect to examine the long-term and collateral effects of the intervention. 2) Various settings and contextual factors should be considered when developing targeted intervention policies. 3) Interventions must be tailored. 4/4
