Our findings align with femme theory, which suggests that femmephobia operates as a form of gender policing, enforcing normative expressions of femininity and stigmatizing non-normative expressions.

We also found that there was greater prejudice against femme men and non-binary people compared to femme queer women, suggesting differences among gender non-conforming femininities in experiences of femmephobia.
