This is appalling. What on earth was the reason for the three-line whip to vote this down? The Labour party supported the swift brick amendment when it was tabled on Conservative government legislation in 2023. Has the government offered an explanation for blocking it now?
#birds Swifts fly thousands of miles to breed in the UK—only to find their nest sites blocked up. Their ancient forests with nest hollows now gone, they relied on cavities in buildings, but these, too, have disappeared. To stop their steep 2/3rds decline since 1995, an

Halloween artificial cobweb material: It may be a bit of fake fun for you, but it's a very real and terrifying death for them. And it's not only birds. I've had my first call of the season of a hedgehog trapped in this horrific fake 'cobweb', made especially for gullible

Nearly 2000 migrating Cranes dead from avian flu in Germany. Awful news.

In a spot outside Berlin that’s usually a paradise for birdwatchers, volunteers have recovered nearly 2,000 dead cranes in recent days as bird flu has hit the migrating birds hard.

Absurd claim that White-tailed Eagles snatched five Shetland ponies leads to inevitable call to 'shoot eagles'. More sensationalist nonsense, demonising the UK's rarest eagle. New blog ⬇️⬇️ https://t.co/6upDQskFdw

Sorry to report another stag killed by the Devon and Somerset Staghounds today at Simonsbath as they gleefully take advantage of the magnificent stags already exhausted from the rut and vulnerable. Newly pregnant hinds and their 4 month old calves also caught up in the mass panic

The Hunting Act was meant to end hunting animals with dogs for good. Legal loopholes mean the deliberate killing of wildlife continues. I met senior police officers in Parliament to discuss enforcement. We need a watertight new ban to consign this blood sport to history.

Not just fox hunting of course, the law needs to properly ban stag hunting and hunting hares with packs of dogs.

If this is one family then whooper swans seem to have had a good breeding season in Iceland this year. There were more elsewhere on this Perthshire loch, with a high proportion of cygnets.

Swift bricks. Literally the easiest conservation win it's possible to imagine. Cheap, simple, effective and negligible cost to the developer. Yet both UK and Welsh govt can't even get this right. We've got no hope on the complex issues.
Apparently swift bricks are just too costly. Sorry guys, swifts& their 50 million year old existence& the category of most accessible urban birds, just isn’t worth the cost. Bye bye birdies. If you disagree tell steve.reed.mp@parliament.uk

Looks like another fox hunting prosecution incoming for the Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt. How blatant can you get..
More footage of BSV Hunt illegally hunting a fox from Three Corner Covert, and drone footage of the chase by hounds that ensued. Ben Summersgil, the Whip, makes no attempt to stop hounds at any point. Avon & Somerset Police have requested the footage and are investigating. (1/3)
