Been a heck of week on Hwy 91 west of Lindsay. 2 different snow storms in a week totaling a foot of snow. Then a low of -22° and wind chills of -50°. Cattle, equipment, & people are tired but resilient. The Hwy has been closed since Thurs but opened up today.
A thread 🧵
Beller Feedlot west of Lindsay, NE. Lots of water. Shell Creek west of town is now over the banks. Poor cattle. Going to be a long few days.

After 30 years of being on the Lindsay volunteer fire department, Dad is retiring and turning in his pager. He’s a great man and an even better Dad! I couldn’t be more proud!
15 yrs ago, this was my most anticipated weekend! The skimpy outfits, downtown Lincoln, Halloween 👻 on a Saturday! Ah, The good ol days. Now I’m putting my kids to bed and thinking about joining them 🤦🏼♂️ life comes at you fast! 😴
The last 365 days have been crazy! The disastrous floods, trying to plant and grow a crop, the rough harvest in the fall, impeachment, coronavirus, markets are in the tank, and now “cancel everything”.

Finally today this afternoon, the state was able to finally get to our part of the Highway. I’m sure they put in long hours just like we did at the feedlot. Credit to those guys. It was a long week, but better days ahead!
Being on the Highway, people think they can make it through the bad spots. Usually not the case. We just send em a tow out bill. :) If we wouldn’t have gotten em out, they would’ve been there til today since it was closed till this afternoon.
Next came another 6-8” of snow and much colder winds. Since the wind was howling, we had to dig our way to the farm on the highway. Once the winds calm down and sun comes so we can see where we are going out we take the fields to work. Cattle are tough animals.

Couldn’t agree more, Beau. Well said. We did and still do a lot of business with Paul and his family. Great people. Paul was one of the best and will be dearly missed.

Beller Feedlot here in Lindsay, Ne. About 1/2 done. Should get a lot done this week with the nice weather! Corn is drying down quick though since the frost last week.
Had more wind than snow, which was a plus. Didn’t lose power like some did..another plus. Still gotta feed and check cattle in a blizzard. Wish I had an office job some days.
Saturday night into Sunday morning temps were brutally cold. Equipment kept gelling up. Good thing we got a couple of everything and could rotate to get things done. Highway still blown shut. It’s 12-14’ deep through there.

Beller Feedlot Lindsay, NE. Use batch box and a RotoMix feed truck. Hay shed with supplements and alfalfa. Rolled corn, silage, and distillers in bunkers. Ground corn stocks.
Keaton, you are stronger than everyone of those bullies! Thank you for being brave enough to share your message! You are an inspiration to kids around the 🌎

I played Cap Rock Ranch a month ago. Especially the best golf experience I’ve ever had. Includes Sand Hills, Dismal, Wildhorse. All great courses. Cap Rock was special.
