The only footage of the Sir Galahad gun team. The only film of me down south. Galahad had been hit for the first time and we had crossed to Stromness to set up the guns while the bombs on Galahad were dealt with. I am there is yellow life preserver and white anti flash gloves

Eve of my last ever new academic year. Everything I do from now until end of May will be for last time. Tomorrow it's the intro lecture for my Islands at War in the 20th century course. I've always liked this one and sure some of content will get post-retirment outings.

TV schedule for ITV the day the Falklands War came to an end. Argentine troops surrendered in Stanley after occupying the islands for 74 days. Live and Let Die was how it was in the brutal battles on the mountains, but Live and Let Live quickly became the mantra.

OTD 1982 Battle of Tumbledown rages through night. Scots Guards fought Argentine troops at bayonet point along crest & flank of this dragonโ€™s back of a mountain. In 2022 we returned with veterans for first archaeological survey. Read free @Mapping1982 book https://t.co/1jsffSBR5S

2 Apr 82 The main force landing at Yorke Bay in the Falklands signalled the invasion of the Falklands by Argentina. They would mine the same bay to prevent a future British amphibious landing.

Delighted to recommend new book by an old friend. Joyce provided mufflers and other authentic items for our troops in the Pollock Park trenches during the Great War centenary. Includes background to this home front contribution & patterns. I can see myself in some of this stuff!

Thanks for reminding me of this @militaryhistori. A moment I will always cherish. It was such a privilege to be there with Scots Guards veterans of 1982, Jim and John.

Jim Peters (ex Scots Guards) in 2022 looking for remains of the curry he scoffed in lee of that rock during a lull in fighting during Battle of Tumbledown 1982. This was when we realised heโ€™d become an archaeologist. Today heโ€™s joining me on my tour of Culloden. @UofGWarstudies

A moving obituary to photographer Paul Haley in @thetimes last week. Arriving at San Carlos with 5 Infantry Brigade, Paul captured some of the most iconic photographs of the Falklands War at Goose Green and with the Scots Guard on Mount Tumbledown. ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง https://t.co/v4639DnqOF

Saddened to report another @2PARA_HQ Falklands vet died today - Douggie McCready (MMGs) - on the right. Another iconic photo taken on 15 or 16 June 82 when Port Stanley needed patrolling due to the Argentinian antics. @TheParachuteReg @FalklandsinUK

Mentions of 'An Ungentlemanly Act' as movie in my recent post. It wasn't, but an important movie. Here's @HistoryHack podcast on it . Was a privilege to take part in this conversation with director @Stuart_Urban & cast members (I was a bit star struck).
