It’s the last day of Green Action Week! But not the end of incorporating sustainable practices into our everyday 🌻 Finding new uses for objects helps us be sustainable - just like this tin being used to store medical instruments. #GreenActionWeek #HistSci #MedicalInstruments

Can our followers help our friends in Buckinghamshire?
We've had this mysterious pole in the archive for years now and we've still got no clue what it is. So, once again, we are turning to you for help. It's a bamboo pole about 10ft long (staff member for scale), with a flexible pair of tongs attached to the end. Any ideas?

🔎 Sometimes it's worth a closer look... Hazel catkins hang from bare branches, wafting pollen in the breeze. The flowers appear as tiny, bright-pink 'tentacles', easily passed over by a casual glance. Take a closer look at this minute flower as it waits to catch pollen.

Norman Heatley made use of any available vessel to grow penicillin. The lab was home to stacked biscuit tins, pie dishes and bed pans 👀 The biscuit tins risk sadness comparable to opening a biscuit tin at Christmas only to find sewing supplies… #OxfordScience #MedicalHistory

It's Candlemas, festival of light in the lengthening days of early spring. An Anglo-Saxon sermon for this ancient and beautiful feast, when 'þæt soðe Leoht, Crist, wæs geboren to þam temple' ('the true Light, Christ, was borne to the temple'): https://t.co/uKyXcVyvTw
