On this note: - The WPIAL took 5 teams out of the 5A Allegheny Six Conference last year - The WPIAL took 5 teams out of the 3A Western Hills Conference this year (3A, like 5A, also has a 12-team playoff field)
@WPIAL_Blitz Clearly they didn't want five teams from one conference making the playoff, even though those five teams are the best 12 (probably best 11 too)

I'm not 100% sure of all the WPIAL committee's procedures (I'm assuming like the NCAA committee an AD can't be part of discussions involving their school) but...is it a little suspicious that the biggest snub/surprise (Armstrong over South Fayette) has ties to a Committee member?

Fair. I guessed New Brighton because they have 2 wins over playoff teams (Ellwood & Mohawk) and Waynesburg's only win over a playoff team was 1A California. But it could go either way.
@WPIAL_Blitz I think 2A replace New Brighton with Waynesburg. But otherwise I’m in agreement.
