Critics use findings like "weather is heritable" to mock behavior genetics. "Genes can't change weather, so if it's heritable that suggests an issue with your study design!" But it's not that your genes change your weather. They influence your perception and your location.

I sometimes (mostly jokingly) get called right-wing because I value free speech and academic freedom, understand the importance of biological sex, love evolutionary psychology, enjoy transgressive 'edgy' humour, and don't spew reactionary emotional takes about Trump. Yet, I have

Good thread detailing some new YouGov figures showing that the fretting about the rabid misogyny of Gen Z teenagers and influence of Andrew Tate may actually be a massive moral panic.

On Wednesday, YouGov published a huge new study into misogyny and young men in the UK and the findings are genuinely encouraging. 👉 You can read the full report here: https://t.co/tatPxfPHxh

As a long time listener, it’s great to hear @yorl and @minzlicht back together for a brilliant conversation. @fourbeerspod's latest episode discusses @nature’s decision to require "citation diversity statements". Passionate but measured takes, really enjoyed listening.

Tbh, I did have a hunch it would be mostly women secretly upset by the UK's decision to criminalise 'choking pornography' 👀 https://t.co/3LaYYxxJcg

A 2021 study interviewed 122 pornography viewers and reported a similar gender pattern, finding that approximately 66% of women enjoyed aggressive content, compared to 40% of men. The current, larger study provides evidence for this same trend. https://t.co/xnLCN9RYvz

More than 1 in 4 adults report having had a sexual fantasy involving a cartoon or animated character. So what's behind the erotic appeal of anime?

Animated porn appears to be growing in popularity. The genre offers a creative way of meeting deeper psychological needs and expressing taboo sexual interests.

All humanities and social science fields skew left wing. Most always have (as far back as the empirical record and the modern left/ right divide goes). But some are less skewed than others, and the level of skew has varied over time. And there seems to be a more-or-less inverse

This specific hypothesis (facial masculinity/symmetry) is likely dead now. Possibly too simplistic to start with. Focusing on context specific sexual behaviour with higher ecological validity may provide better evidence for hormonal influences on mating behaviour.
