As the Welsh 20mph initiative wins the Alun Griffiths Award for Health, Safety and Wellbeing from CIHT Cymru at their annual awards ceremony, another report comes out showing the health benefits of 20mph. #20splenty is a big win for community life and livability.

BREAKING: Removing bike -lanes from busy city streets will increase traffic congestion, according to a government document leaked amid a furious row over urban infrastructure. The findings undercut claims the dedicated routes contribute to urban gridlock.

Important result for #Oxford, the city of painted ๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธcycle lanes: they do not improve road โ˜ ๏ธsafety. Only segregated cycle lanes do.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, itโ€™s safer to NOT have them. Via @StreetsblogUSA https://t.co/zIV0pnoHvg

When talking about streets that prioritize people walking and bike-riding over cars, I usually tend to focus on streets in cities. But did you know that rural French villages have been creating โ€œzones de rencontreโ€ where cars come second to people & bikes? Hat-tip @createstreets

WATCH: Seriously, if youโ€™re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. Politician claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data. Great, @citynewsTO. https://t.co/pBWLfi5QKC

Youโ€™ll barely notice, but this arterial road is intersected by several side streets. Rather than sinking humans down into the space of crossing cars, the foot and cycle paths are raised, continuous and prioritizedโ€”reducing driver entitlement. This should be standard everywhere.

This is outrageous! The whole reason the new council tax for second homes was introduced was because of the housing crisis it is creating. Itโ€™s only logical that the money raised should be used to help councils address it.

@BWallArthur The UK has lost millions in revenue since Brexit just due to loss of EU tourists. Several French companies I worked with as a tour guide no longer arrange day trips or short stays here due to border delays and fear of perceived xenophobia reported in European media.
