So true - the confidence that comes from knowing you can still perform at a good level even when not feeling your best, is an incredibly powerful tool for an athlete's psyche. Another good reason to keep a training diary, and to review it regularly as a reminder.

Amazing achievement for 12yr old Chinese girl Yu Zidi competing at the world swimming championships. Surprising that this story hasn't been more widespread, incredible for a child to be able to challenge at an elite level in such a physically strenuous sport.

12-year-old Yu Zidi has become the youngest swimmer ever to medal at the World Aquatics Championships after China won bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay 😤 . World Aquatics has a minimum age requirement of 14, but Yu qualified early by meeting the competition's “A” standards.

Very worthy winners for both World Junior events - Amina Orfi winning a record breaking 4th girl's title, and Mohamed Zakaria winning the boy's title for the 2nd year in a row without dropping a game. Both players incredible athletes with tremendous careers ahead of them.

People often don't realise how fast high level marathon runners are moving when watching on TV. Elite marathon runners can average a speed of around 70secs per 400m throughout a race, a pace which many well-conditioned people would struggle to hit even in one max 400m rep.
