OSSE just announced details on its emergency rate: OSSE will increase child care subsidy payments from December 2020 to March 2021 by 32% for all participating programs.
DC pushed child care programs to reopen in November - and the majority did. Early educators have been putting their lives at risk and enduring severe loss of revenue to serve infants and toddlers. This is unacceptable.

When COVID-19 hit, the work of being a child-care teacher—already challenging and low paying—became even more demanding, dangerous, and emotionally challenging.
Many of the DC's early childhood educators ― who are predominantly women of color ― don’t earn sufficient wages and benefits to support their own families while they care for and educate the children of other families.
