Children, among the most vulnerable to poverty, disease, conflict and climate change, should not bear the brunt of UK aid cuts. We call on the UK government to commit returning to spend at least 25% of aid budgets on children going forward.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office's own Equality Impact Assessment stated the planned cuts to education and health from 2025 'will have an adverse impact on children, including the most vulnerable and children with disability'.

The 2024 ODA figures show gains for children in education and health in the poorest countries but these will be lost and progress at risk as UK aid is significantly cut from next year. We already know education will be cut by 42% and health by 46% in 2025.

We also welcome the increase to bilateral health spending and general increase of ODA going to the poorest and least developed countries. This would significantly benefit those children living in the poorest and most vulnerable communities to #poverty and #climate_change.

While we welcome the increase of spending on education, which went up to in 2024, It is concerning that primary education has gone down. Primary education is a fundamental right for every child and should not be deprioritised.

We welcome the decrease of spending in the UK, which went down to £2,827 million from £4,273 million. We call for a complete phase out of spending ODA in the UK

Despite the drop of overall budget, we welcome that the @FCDOGovUK budget was largely protected. The FCDO is the key spending department on poverty reduction.

Removing the two-child limit is the single most effective measure the Government can take to reduce child poverty. We urge the UK Government to commit to scrapping the two-child limit in the upcoming child poverty strategy.
