New @ThePeelPod with @awwstn We talk about building the most niche AI product imaginable (email scheduling), why more AI products should be this narrow, what it was like working for @jason, and the unique deck strategy he used to raise $6m Links below!
Episode #113: Howie: The AI Secretary I talked to @awwstn at @howie_ai about why AI assistants are so hard to build, deciding to make Howie super narrow, and everything that went into build the product, brand, naming, and viral launch video. Thanks to @Hanover_HQ for supporting

We’ve been working with Bun for years And it’s only gotten better, faster, AND cheaper That’s our mantra at Railway, so I couldn’t be more excited for Bun’s 1.3 launch! Congrats to the Bun team!

One of the best new products I discovered in 2025: @getdynasty_com Helps founders create + stack trusts to optimize their QSBS benefits. This traditionally costs 6-figures, but Dynasty does it for 99% less. Great deal for early stage founders that are thinking long-term.

in many parts of the southeast, life expectancy is ~15 years lower than in SF. See maps-they are 1) obese - diet of fried meat and sugary drinks 2) smokers 3) cities not built for walking, people don’t get steps and die in cars 4) poor and uninsured It’s striking
wow, americans in the southeast of the US have a 20 year shorter life expectancy than those elsewhere wtf is going on?

I asked @awwstn why email-based AI assistants are so hard to build: "The architecture itself is not hard to build. The hard part is all the context and intuition that goes into each decision. None of them are hard 100% of the time. But they're very hard for an AI model to get

It’s not 1999, it’s 2007 I’ve been spending some time recently on whether we are in an AI bubble and what the ramifications could be The three things that concern me the most are 1) the amount of leverage the large tech players have, 2) improper accounting treatments of CAPEX

Please make sure you are only drinking as much water as you REALLY need. We need that for the datacenters. If you’re thirsty, grok is thirsty too.

Super extensive report worth reading from my friend @nathanbenaich
🪩The one and only @stateofaireport 2025 is live! 🪩 It’s been a monumental 12 months for AI. Our 8th annual report is the most comprehensive it's ever been, covering what you *need* to know about research, industry, politics, safety and our new usage data. My highlight reel:

Apparently this is fake news, per multiple sources at a16z Personally still think they should do it.

a16z opening an Indian office is a big deal for the founders and startups there. I've made a few investments in India over the years, and there's an extreme lack of Series A / B stage capital compared to what's before + after. Hoping they can change this dynamic for the better.

A big lesson from the past six years of startup investing is knowing who to talk to / listen to when doing diligence. I've passed on too many great companies early on because the first few people I asked for their opinion on it ended up being wrong (or biased). I don't think you

I asked @frantzfries why sending emails is still a huge problem for software companies: "Software companies tend to use 2 to 5 different tools to email their users. It's everything from notifications, to product updates, newsletters, investor updates, customer or new hire
