What an impressive group of students at @MiddletownHigh! This morning, @LGSusanB and I spoke to a group of @MiddletownDECA and FFA members about the lifelong benefits of strong personal finance skills, and some things we wish we knew about money when we were in high school.

Heartbreaking news. I’ll be keeping his loved ones and colleagues in my thoughts tonight.

I’m grateful for the partnership of the IAC, which shares responsibility for our investment strategy and performance. Outgoing Chair Ellen Shuman has done outstanding work. I’m glad she will stay on alongside new Chair Philip Zecher, appointed today.

This progress is owed to a host of reforms aimed at better allocating assets and building our investment team of experts. It’s also owed to a unified commitment within state govt, led by @GovNedLamont, who joined me at today’s announcement, to strengthen our pension funds.

In the last Fiscal Year, CT’s pension funds generated returns of 11.5% and grew by $6.7B. We measure success over the long-term, not by individual year, but we continue to move in the right direction, at great benefit to taxpayers and pensioners.
