The underlying sentiment, on full display at this week’s Republican Convention, that no person of color is independently worthy of high-ranking jobs, is just racism. I’m so discouraged and disheartened that this lazy and plain-spoken bigotry is tolerated within our politics.

VP Harris was a respected prosecutor, AG of a large state, and a US Senator prior to becoming the VP. By contrast, Trump is a convicted felon whose only qualification when running was being a “businessman” —whose dad gave him millions of dollars—that filed for bankruptcy 6 times.

How are we measuring qualifications for our elected leaders? Chairman Proto's comments about Vice President Harris are despicable and we should expect leaders in Connecticut to speak with more respect and decency.
