In America, the people are the sovereign, not the president.
That’s the whole point of America. In 1776 we threw off the yoke of the English King.
We cannot give in to a new king.
We cannot.
Nationals making it easier for D.C. residents to buy a $5 seat for games. Not avail to non-city dwellers.

In 2002-2003 the DC Board of Education required all students be fully immunized over Christmas vacation before they could return to school. DC went from 41,000 un-immunized public school students to 20 in that time.
If you have a corner store, use and support it. Amidst reports of long lines and empty shelves, I went to my neighborhood corner store today and they had all that I needed. And I was the only one there. We need more corner stores.

“A gasoline-powered leaf blower spews out more pollution than a 6,200-pound Ford F-150 SVT Raptor pickup” and “emissions from a half-hour of yard work with the two-stroke leaf blower are about the same as a 3,900-mile drive from Texas to Alaska”
Leonsis cut a deal with the anti LGBTQ Royal family of Qatar to fund his teams. Now he is taking DC’s teams to Virginia.
He cannot be allowed to buy the Nats. He does not support our values and he is not loyal to DC.
Did you know we have river otters in the Anacostia? Check out this encounter caught on a trail cam in Upper Beaverdam Creek! While the state conservation status is “secure” in Maryland, finding otters in the Anacostia is a sign of the river's improving health!

I just learned civil rights leader, former UDC professor and long term statehood activist, Howard Croft, has passed away. Howard served many roles for our city. He was one of my most important mentors and friend. He was a true DC hero.
This pandemic sucks.
One of the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS your city could do to become more healthy, sustainable, livable, affordable, equitable, successful — stop pretending to “balance” transportation modes, and commit to PRIORITIZING walking/rolling, biking, public transit. HT

I feel conflicted. As an elected I was able to have the cherry designated our official DC state fruit at the request of Terry Bunton’s class at Anthony Bowen elementary school. As the Dir of DOEE, I note the cherry is an invasive species.

Gosh traveling by train is humane. Seats are plenty big. You can get up whenever you wish to use the restroom. You can change seats! Deboarding happens relatively quickly after you reach your destination. Hanging out in the dining car is fun. There is a view!

Food Trucks on the Mall for the 4th are an embarrassment. Fed gov’t should offer grants to upgrade. They are a public facing service for DC tourists.

DCs rapid increase in positive cases will continue as people refuse to follow the Mayor’s request for social/physical distancing and keep gatherings very small. We’ve got to hold each other accountable. The next few weeks plus are going to be rough.

Big news for D.C.: the city now has $1.4 billion in its rainy day fund, which could run the government for 60 days. It's a threshold city officials have been trying to reach since the last recession.
Riding up on a car parked in a bike lane today, I yelled “you gotta get out of the bike lane.” The car passed me later and through the passenger window yelled back at me “mind your own business!” I laughed then and as I do now. I have no idea what they were thinking.
