@elvenmaidinn The thing to remember is that it's not a hobby for them; DnD is a lifestyle brand. In the same way as Carhartt jackets or Timberlands boots are worn by non-tradies (diluting the image), these tourists wear DnD as a skinsuit because they think it carries clout.

Well, we've come full circle. When I was young in the early 80s, I was afraid to tell people that I played D&D because of how they might perceive me. Now, over 40 years later, I am afraid to tell people that I play D&D because of how they might perceive me.
