A deal like this is 8-levels above anything Ron Hextall could have even contemplated. It’s chess Dubas is playing, and I’m not even sure Hextall was ever even playing checkers
Kyle Dubas pulled off the Erik Karlsson trade without resorting to any buyouts, which is impressive. He said he's always believed that you can find a more creative solution when it comes to moving contracts, so that you aren't paying the price down the line with the salary cap.
