And there’s plenty of people who DO engage. I just don’t understand the mindset that makes people comment stuff like that I guess?.

To be fair, for a long time, most of the comments on the 1st one are also unsubstantial (confusion over Sock’s gender) but it’s engaging w/the work at least! Idk, maybe I’m expecting too much of YouTube comments. That’s why I spent most of my time interacting w/fans on tumblr.

It’s not gonna stop me from workin on Part 2, but I gotta say it’s a good way to make artists feel like spending their time wasn’t worth it. Engage with the art you’re consuming!.Ask a question, share a theory, giggle about a line you liked. I promise it’s way more fun!.

It’s the whole reason many artist posts personal art online at all - connection & communication & reaching people. Glad you got to make the same clever comment everyone else did, but you waited on me for 10 years, & that’s all you have to say about the thing I worked so hard on?.

So many of the comments on W2H2 are just variations of “lol guess I’m gonna have to wait another 10 years for part 2!” And like…. I get it, that’s fair. But man I miss getting actual comments from people engaging with the art.
