Woah, dex is a saving throw in AD&D 1e.
@WhittersRichard @ericbabe3 @OGCrimsonJester @TheBasicExpert1 @Liisabelle @_The_big_Other_ I believe the precedent was set with the Dig spell in the 1978 PHB:

I am delighted to announce the launch of Autarch's first-ever multi-GM 1:1 time living campaign. The "Living Ascendant" campaign begins today! Each hero in the Living Ascendant campaign is an ascendant operative of Dreadnaught Security Inc. assigned to the Rapid Response Team

TTRPGs are a gentleman's game played by hooligans, and yet simultaneously a hooligan's game played by gentlemen. What mean?

Anyone have tips on getting LaTeX code to compile faster (or luaLaTeX)?

What motivated this was listening to youtube videos of people talking about playing conventional, modern D&D 5 and 5.5, and realizing that the games I play and the games they play have almost nothing in common. This is not about at the system, it's about the culture of play.

Both styles have some merits, but I much prefer the first, and can't see myself playing the second ever again (I grew up on the second). The styles are so different that I think the fracture is going to be complete, with nearly completely non-overlapping factions. Wild times.

I think a complete rupture is coalescing in the TTRPG hobby. One side is looking back at games like AD&D, Classic Traveler and Chainmail for insight on running compelling player driven games. The other is looking for the best "railroad" narrative game with little player agency.

Last few games have not hit my standard 25% PC death. It's been more like 15%. I'm not sure if my players have gotten better or they have just lucked out on the encounters. Time will tell. 🤷♂️

I'm toying with the idea that "True Neutral" should not be an allowable Alignment for PCs. Animals like bears, sure, but for PCs it just seems like a cop out.

I know a few people who have had similar experiences. Do not take these things or at least look for other alternatives first. (not a doctor, not official medical advice, etc.)
I'm gonna talk about SSRI's. It's hard for me to talk about. I was prescribed Lexapro for my fear of flying. I took it during Red 5, after I left Blizzard to found my new company. It messed me up. It did dampen some emotions but heightened others, particularly anger. It also

In TTRPGs permadeath is a good thing. Everything matters a lot more if when a PC dies, that's it, done and dusted. Every decision has more weight, not just in combat but out of it as well. The world feels more real as players have to weigh weather or not to take real risks.

If I have learned anything from studying history it's that "Nature abhors a vacuum" also applies to politics. Specifically in regards to someone ruling. Total governmental breakdowns last minutes to days, not weeks. Consider this in your TTRPG game next time a town gets wrecked.

Bards today are lacking, in large part, due to ignorance of the heroes upon which the archetype is based. Orpheus, Sir Dinadan, Alan-a-Dale, and John the Balladeer are all great places to start! #BetterBards
@elvenmaidinn So much about this conversation is weird, starting with the people who seem to think D&D is the end all of gaming. Bards, however, can be great. It’s the combination of systems that makes them useless & players who think they consist of nothing but lutes & seduction that sucks.

Are there any good TTRPGs based on Slavic folklore?

"No wrong way to play"-brain is not internally consistent, because it reacts so strongly to "RAW is best". This is because NWWTP is Chaos ideology, RAW is Law, but NWWTP wants to claim the legitimacy of RAW: with logic like "Rule Zero is RAW so NWWTP is RAW". It can only corrupt.
I can't stream today. Too much editing to finish. I recorded a spicy new video to make people upset though. Enjoy. Linked below.

LuaLaTeX is fine. Not great, but fine. Serious question: Why pick Lua as the language to embed in LaTeX over something more universally loved, robust, and feature complete like python?

Fantasy TTRPGs need wargaming rules like fish need water.
