As I reflect on this tournament every year one sentence come to mind. Wrestling is hard. Seeing men in the back rooms broken having to get up and keep going is something that no one can understand unless you have been in the arena. Humbled every year. Thank you wrestling.

Seek controlled struggle (sports, physical training, fasting, reading, meditation, etc.) to try and gain ground on things like discipline, focus, and self/ control. In hopes that when true, uncontrolled, suffering happens they have the hardened character to overcome.

I believe there is a natural humility and curiosity to coaches that never did great themselves. For coaches who were ‘winners’ it is much harder to detach from the ‘Ive done it so do it like me’ mentality and really get to the ‘ lets figure this out together’ mentality.
