🚨In court filings, DOJ and HPE hit back at criticism of their merger settlement. Attempts by state enforcers to intervene and halt the parties' integration could "chill merger enforcement," per DOJ, and make the products HPE must divest "lose competitive relevance," per HPE.

U.S. District Judge Casey Pitts has scheduled a November 18 hearing for the AGs' motion to intervene in his review of the HPE/Juniper settlement. He let DOJ and the parties stay the other parts of the case while the govt is shut down, but exempted the AGs' motion from the stay.
🚨13 state AGs have filed a motion to intervene in the review of an allegedly corrupt settlement between the DOJ and HPE/Juniper. "If there were ever a settlement that demanded a thorough investigation and an evidentiary hearing under the Tunney Act, it is this one," they wrote.

A few weeks ago, the Treasury Department hatched plans for a $20 billion bailout to prop up the political fortunes of the president of Argentina. Today we learned its up to $40 billion, with US taxpayers on the hook.
The planned bailout of Argentina by the Treasury Department is totally inappropriate. But, apparently, it will be deemed an essential function of government. According to a plan published this month, it looks like the bailout can proceed even if the government shuts down.

This photo shows the Treasury Secretary reading a text from the Agriculture Secretary. She's worried China has outmaneuvered the US by buying up Argentine soybeans at the expense of our farmers, even as the Administration plans to bail out Argentina with billions of dollars.
