NEW: Excited to announce, I am starting a Substack with the great @garywinslett: The Rebuild!. The Rebuild will focus on how Democrats can break through bureaucracy, build more, cut costs, and actually deliver results that win back voters' trust. 🧵+ Link below ⬇️

Housing transforms lives, but Bass opposed SB79 just days ago & gutted ED1 by exempting single-family zones shielding 74% of LA from fast-track housing. She calls it “not forcing housing,” but the result is little built while rents soar.
This is why, for the second year in a row, homelessness has gone down. Housing transforms lives, like Robert’s, who now has a safe place to call home and spend meaningful time with his son. We will keep bringing people inside, offering them shelter and hope.

I don't think I've seen any of the writers there be against many of those things? Nor labeled it as illiberal?.
"Wealth redistribution, Medicare for all, climate action, controls on capitalism (and) an end to a US-assisted genocide might seem illiberal if your new paycheck depends on the goodwill of some of the richest people in the country."

telling the kiddos to just use less tiktok on their free time is a hilarious solution to this, when it should clearly be, as stated, focusing on expanding and scaling the clean energy sector.
i get that this guy is a “digital media / art” guy more so than an “ai energy” expert, but i still find it frustrating that outlets treat this as a serious proposal. demand is growing — what matters is whether we meet it with efficient (and clean, when possible) energy supply.

Powell all but cementing that we will get a rate cut while sprinkling “but don’t get too comfortable, we got stagflation coming through” is just chef’s kiss. I’ll miss him.
Powell: "In the near term, risks to inflation are tilted to the upside, and risks to employment to the downside—a challenging situation.". Translation: Stagflation.

holding space has unironically entered my vernacular so I will be holding space for that term.
Don't say "birthing person." .Don't say "incarcerated person." .Don't say "the unhoused." .Don't say "chest feeding." .Don't say "centering. Don't say "Latinx.". When voters hear this, they think Democrats are out of touch crazy people. Just talk normal. Be normal.

It's true! This site is downright terrible for your soul but the libs who want to fight need to stay on here. The retreat after the election made no sense from an oppo POV if one of our main critique was that Dems always stayed in a bubble!.
