The oddball insistence that tariffs are taxes on individuals is a tell that an economist is pulling your leg. It is a corporate tax, a tax paid by a business when they import goods. It’s not a tax on individuals. Who does it ultimately fall on? We don’t really know is the best.
"Macroeconomics is the study of averages, and on average, taxes are gonna be a lot lower under this bill. But good economists look beneath the average and see what's happening to individuals. The combo of this bill + tariffs is gonna result in higher taxes for 80% of Americans"

Zohran has a problem telling the truth. In this video, he tells an obviously made up story. He says that when his mother was raising money to make Mississippi Masala—it came out in 1991—a “financier” asked her where the white actors in her film would be. Now some people have.

I'm not even a defender of Smoot-Hawley. I just think that the simplistic condemnation is obviously wrong and the sophisticated version is not supported by the evidence. It's just everyone's favorite Demon Law.

Smoot-Hawley has become a sort of Demon Law. While many people have heard of it—it shows up in high school text books—and believe it contributed to or even caused the Great Depression, almost not one can tell you how. It's just a source of bad things for the economy.

The June jobs report reaffirms the view that the job market continues to throttle back. Payroll employment increased 147k, beating expectations, but only because of a 73k increase in state and local government education. This isn’t reality, but a seasonal adjustment problem due.

The Secretary makes the obvious point that the CBO projections are nonsense. They project the same growth if the OBBB passes or doesn't pass. No one believes that.
The CBO is wrong:. Without this bill, we would face the largest tax hike in history and the CBO would project 1.8% growth. Even with full expensing for manufacturing equipment and historic tax relief, the CBO still projects only 1.8% growth. If you turn up the growth

This is a quibble but it is also technically inaccurate at a very basic level. We learned the sex of my first daughter BEFORE birth. The "assigning" occurred prior to birth (at conception) and was also detected prior to birth.
"assigned at birth" is a propaganda term used by trans activists to perpetuate the lie that men can become women and vice versa. Honest people should avoid the term completely.
