Pleased that @LordsCommsCom's report on BBC funding concurs with points by @StuartAllan123 and myself - any future model must be independent, fair and not involve advertising, subscription or government grants.

The BBC does not owe any accountability to foreign governments, nevermind ambassadors who incite violence & ethnic cleansing. What 'understanding' did the Culture Secretary offer? Did she uphold the BBC's independence? The British public & licence fee payers have a right to know.

I know prattling about BBC governance is pointless compared to the genocide it is actively excusing & justifying. But when people ask "how did it get this bad?", I think the abolition of the only BBC body required to represent & defend the public interest set us on this path

In 2010 when Osborne first tried to slash BBC funding, the entire BBC Trust threatened to resign & stopped the worst cuts (if only briefly). Now the Board is stacked with stooges hand-picked to embolden gov attacks & will oblige every jot of this campaign against its independence.

'Perception of partiality' is such a transparently cowardly phrase that willfully opens all Palestine coverage to vexatious challenges. If progs can be scrapped on an imaginary 'perception' - rather than actually observed bias - why does the BBC bother making news at all?.

It's definitely very cool & totally sustainable that rights to BBC programmes are sold off and UK audiences have to pay global streaming giants to watch what that they funded with their licence fees.

After making a huge fuss about their re-releases, none of Roads to Freedom, I Claudius, Talking Heads or Our Friends in the North (+ many other BBC-made classics) is available on iPlayer anymore. Nevermind, at least New Zealand Traitors by super-indie All3Media gets top billing
