My daughter has been to more protests in her five months in England than I have all my life. I am most moved by the latest, a sit-in-protest at her school — The Bartlett School of Architecture, demanding the immediate reinstatement of Security Guard Don Onyido to his position.

3/ it is NOT the responsibility of architects to subsidise a lack of investment in public services, by giving away our services for free. This is not the thinking of a serious profession.

2/ doing work for free entrenches inequality in our profession (which let’s face it has a bit of an issue) because you can only do it if you can afford not to pay yourself.

FML I honestly cannot believe this from @RIBA 🤯 1/ designing buildings that deliver social value - is not a hobby to improve wellbeing 😭- it requires skill, commitment and time which have to be paid for (unless see point 2). 🧵

Very well put together article by @GinoSpoc about ‘co-design’, which risks becoming an increasing throwaway term. Nice to see some of our work @archio_ltd getting a mention.

What’s interesting about Labour’s housing proposal is it’s not a radical planning overhaul. It’s a serious proposal to make the existing system work as it should by strengthening it. I have Qs about £ - but - for all the political pontificating, this is really all that’s needed.

Loved this playful way of explaining the environmental benefits of low traffic neighbourhoods in #Barcelona this weekend - in this case the Superilles or Superblocks programme. Kids had to solve a puzzle to find the code and unlock the box! Two very engaged young learners here.
