Calling MPs and their staff - come and hear from us about how important SMEs are to building 1.5 million new homes.

They need to make the planning system simpler through the upcoming Planning and Infrastructure Bill. It must be more predictable so that SMEs can grow to increase capacity to deliver homes overall, it must usher in a period where planning policy is simple and pragmatic.

The government now needs to bring forward bold reforms and replace NIMBYism with actual delivery.

The planning system remains a substantial hurdle to building the homes we need.

But this hasn’t been met with an increase in planning applications at the rate we need to see if we’re going to make progress towards 1.5 million homes by 2029.

Yesterday, Starmer’s speech made clear that the government is not backing down from the 1.5 million target. In the last few months, we’ve seen some hopeful signs from MHCLG. The minister’s use of call-ins and the progress towards new local plans is positive.
